Breastfeeding at night

Hello. Looking for some advice please. I am ebf with a medicine bottle at the 1/2 a day using expressed milk.
I am one of the lucky ones and my baby sleeps all night until i wake her up for a feed.
Although baby girl was 6 weels earky and still only weighs 6lbs 4 her weight gain each week exceeds whats expected of her and shes gaining around 200grams every week.
I have no concerns about leaving her to sleep from a weight POV but will this effect
My supply. Her feed isnt great when I wake her up so im pumping just incase.

You’ve not said how old she is but I see in your profile she is less than 2 months. I’m no Lacation consultant and would advise you to discuss it with them, but I’d probably suggest not waking her and make sure you feed her every 2-3 hrs during the day and then do a pump session once in the middle of the night to protect your supply since she’s still less than 3 months old. I’d just give this a try and see how it goes! But given her age I’d think it’s unlikely she could sleep beyond 8-9 hours without a feed and if you want her to sleep longer than that, I’d caution you against waiting too late in the morning (say 5am) to feed her as this could actually wake her up for the day since her sleep drive is so low at that hour.

I say ask a lactation nurse but if you not worry about her weight I’ll pump like 4-5 hours at night so you can get some sleep. If you worry about your supply and during the day 2-3 hours. I wouldn’t ruin her routine and If the doctor worry about her weight then wake up her at night 4 hours so the baby sleep longer

They should have told you to wake her up to feed. I would ask her Dr how often she should be feeding and then wake her if you need to!

I personally didn’t pump at night m & my LC didn’t tell me I had to or had to wake baby to feed - she was gaining weight well. I would check with a professional, though, because your girl was early. It did not impact my supply.

I would get up to pump until you start doing weaning personally.

Personally I would pump and leave her sleep . Breastfeeding works on supply and demand so your supply will regulate to how much she feeds . That being said you may still wake engorged if that is an issue and you don't want a possible oversupply and freezer stash I would hand express enough for comfort.

If your concerned I would talk to a lactation consultant who would be able to guide you on this La Leche League GB - Friendly breastfeeding support from pregnancy onwards https://share.google/BQiRIUnTZEsAKW5Ht are brilliant on breastfeeding

Definitely consult with a lactation consultant or your baby's pediatrician. I was told to wake up baby if it's nearing more than 3hrs asleep. I also wake up every 2-3hrs to pump or else I end up engorged and uncomfortable. I also have a 1.5 week old, so I guess it varies 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would have to pop on my hakka in the middle of the night while newborn was sleeping. It was so painful lol .. pump and stash it!!

As she’s still small I’d wake to feed, I know she’s gaining weight, but at that weight you want them to get as much as possible:)

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
