My baby is 9 weeks old and currently only contact naps, which sometimes only last 20-30 min . once we put him down he wakes up immediately and seems uncomfortable. Rocked and occasionally fed to sleep, working really hard to break feed to sleep association. And it’s now taking a long time to rock to sleep. I would like to move away from the contact naps and get him to sleep in his cot desperately as its getting mentally challenging. And also encourage him to sleep without a strong association. Any advice please on what steps to take. Where do I start from to make a change , naps or bedtime ? . I also wonder if it’s too early to sleep train
Thank you

Hi Victoria! Sorry to hear you’re struggling with sleep. At 9 weeks your baby should be able to handle 70-80 minutes awake between sleeps. How long is he staying awake between? It helps to follow Eat-Play-Sleep so he’s eating when he wakes up, having play/awake time then attempting sleep. You don’t have to sleep train necessarily but you could work on putting him down drowsy and soothing him from the bassinet since he’s stirring when put down asleep.

Hey Katie ! Thank you for your response . Really appreciate it
Right now he’s staying up between 60-90 mins but sometimes when he’s struggling to sleep he can go up to 120 mins. Sometimes I find that when I follow eat play sleep, he wakes to feed early.
Do I make him drowsy by Rocking him a little first ?

Thank you have a good evening
