Constipated baby - gripe water??

My boy is a 4 weeks old tomorrow and he is struggling to poop. Have tried massages, cycling legs etc.

People have said gripe water?? Does that work? If not what else can people recommend?

He is in so much discomfort it’s so horrible to see. We’ve been to the doctors and also got sent to hospital but all his checks were ok just really bad constipation.

Gripe water didn’t really help me, it occasionally did with gas for my little one. But I found the kendamil pro comfort drops or optical drops (slight cheaper) helps my boy when he we was little along with massages and leg movements.

It is normal as they are not moving around a lot at that age. I remember my little boy doing at least one or two every other day.

He’s 9 months and haven’t used them as much in the last couple of months as he’s rolling around and crawling so I get maybe 2 poos a day sometime 3! Worse when he is teething 🤣😅

Been to docs and hospital but they didn't give anything or advise? Gripe water unlikely to work x

Gripe water didn’t really help us. She hated the taste, so just made her more upset. We just persisted with cycling, and lifting her bump up slightly and circling her to help create movement. She is 10 weeks old now and seems to have grown out of needing help to fart now luckily!

Breast or formula fed? If formula the ready made bottles can help x

Frieda baby makes a product called windi. I thought it was super weird, but tried it out of desperation for my second and she found so much relief with them. She didn't need them more than a few weeks. I was super hesitant to try but her dad insisted to just try it and it was instant relief for her and to see her visibly relax and hear that toot flute whistle was quite satisfying. There's instructions and video explained in the link below. Maybe his pediatrician has ideas on what can be given for constipation if things just aren't moving.

It sounds like infant dyschezia, they just have to learn how to poop.

Gripe water won't help as it reacts with stomach acid to make gas bubbles, it doesn't get through to the bowels at all

no. They just told me to do what I was already doing. X

Thanks everyone. Hopefully it will pass soon then. I just hate seeing him in pain, it’s horrible. His belly is rock solid 😥 keeps waking up crying his eyes out x

If you're breast feeding, drink warm prune juice and baby will get it!

It this doesn’t pass, have them check stool for microscopic bleeding. This hints at food intolerance. Whether breastfed or formula.

My daughter had a soy intolerance that gave her awful gas and her poop became stringy after awhile.

@Anabella I said if she was breastfeeding she could drink it, and the baby would get it, through milk 🙃 I did it when my baby would be constipated and it works. We also recommended on it to new mom's, I work with new mom's and newborns.

I’m formula feeding so don’t panic guys I won’t give him actual prune juice 😂

As someone else has already mentioned, the Frida baby windis are an absolute game changer! My LO is now 19 months but we used them during his first few months and they worked wonders! They do not cause any discomfort when used correctly. They brought him instant relief if he was ever struggling. We also swore by infacol.
Sometimes baby may also not get along with the brand of formula. Kendamil in particular is known to be one of the heavier ones that doesn’t suit a lot of babies’ little tums x

We gave him some infacol and after 2 mins he pooped 👏🏼👏🏼 yay!!

whether it’s a coincidence or not, my baby pooped so I’m happy as he’s not in any discomfort now. He passed loads of wind before hand.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

I feel like just a milk cow

Hi I have a 16 day old via c section, I'm a FTM never having been around babies before as I am the youngest of my household and from a small family. My husband is fantastic with our little one. But ever since I've had the baby I just feel like the only thing I'm good for is producing milk. I feel disconnected from my husband like the only reason he's around is because am producing milk. We were having some issues before the baby and we're struggling it took a while to feel like he was onboard even though he said he was from the moment we found out. I dunno if I'm feeling like a spear part because I'm lacking confidence with baby or because I feel like he wouldn't mind being a single dad. Is this postpartum hormones or something else?
