Is anyone exclusively bf and have a fussy baby at the breast?
My baby is 5 months and is fussy at the breast. One is fast flow and the other one not fast enough so feeds can be stop and start every few mins, switching breasts but I’m also finding that she’s sometimes uncomfortable (might be cos she’s getting bigger and the pillow smaller) or distracted so feeding can take longer or I have to keep trying every so often.
This is so tiring and she gets agitated obviously because she wants to eat and nap. Because of the feeding challenges that im having, I feel anxious to feed her in public and because she won’t take a bottle or dummy, car journeys can be a nightmare.
-Baby will also only nap on the boob- contact napping
-Doesn’t want to sleep in her crib and wakes up every time I put them down so I end up co sleeping every night.
I guess I have a some questions and need suggestions/help.
1-How are you feeding your babies? On a pillow, just holding them in your arms. Are they upright or laying horizontally?
2-How do you get your babies down to sleep? (Mine is such a light sleeper)
3-How long are you going to bf your baby? Will you move to a sippy cup?
4-How do you feed in public/ public transport?
5-How do you pacify your baby in the car wo a bottle or dummy?
Anyone struggling or have a solution for the above?

I’m EBF and my baby got fussy at the breast around 4mo and his weight gain slowed. It could be developmental just being more easily distracted, it could be flow/supply related, or one or both of those things could be impacting their latch. After talking to an LC, I started offering both boobs and I noticed the fussing improved after about a week or two and he’s putting weight back on pretty quickly.

I think the fussiness is developmental! My little one is still so distracted in public but much better at just getting what he needs quickly now or i wait and feed him in the car before and after events/classes.
We also struggled with the car until we put him RearFacing in the front with airbag off so we could settle him. We recently changed to the Axkid 4 max and i think he can see us and out the window way more and is much happier.
My baby is 11 months but i answered the questions in case it helps!
1. horizontally, or lying next to me in bed. After 9 months he started straddling me sitting up to feed.
2. I feed to sleep, he normally stays down for 30 mins, i resettled and feed again, he stays down for an hour and then i go to bed with him. For naps it's either car or pram which i can transfer to the house.
3. No idea!! At least a year though and i think he will be offered oat milk at nursery.
Thanks for your input Louisa and Marina. It’s reassuring and good to see how other mummies are doing things. Xx
