Someone on the maternity ward (another mum) called my newborn son sexy.
Realise it was as meant as a compliment and nothing behind it but do others not think that is weird to describe a baby like that?

That is more than weird. They need to be investigated

That is beyond creepy

Absolutely not, big red flag.

This post has given me the ick

Other words for sexy are alluring, seductive, provocative, sensual.....so if people think sexy is ok would they "compliment" a baby by saying "your baby is so seductive". If I walk up to you in public and call you sexy are you not going to be like.....uhm...wtf. something is wrong with people.

Also, imagine calling your dad sexy, feels wrong doesn’t it? Because sexy is sexual!

Super weird but I know there's some folks of a certain age in the UK who seem to think this is a normal and harmless thing to say. I don't think they mean it like that, but I find it VERY odd.

If they meant adorable, cute, etc they should have said that. This is very, very, very creepy. I’m glad it was another mom and not staff, otherwise I would have reported it

Screams pedophile and I would report someone for making a sexual comment towards my child whether they were family, a stranger or friend

That's super creepy. Or those people lack vocabulary and meanings or they are dangerous people.
I feel a bit better now haha knowing I’m not the only one to have been slightly horrified by what was said. I kept my curtain drawn after 😂

Babies can't be sexy, very likely they were talking about the outfit.

Very creepy… who sees babies as sexy…? TF….! 🤯

That’s very strange, the only way I could maybe give someone a pass is if English was their second language so didn’t fully understand the definition.

We had a teacher at the daycare I worked at great a child and dad with “good morning sexy” we all thought mom needed to throw hands no matter who she was talking to. Shocked she wasn’t fired 🤢

I'm sure she was joking.

So context for my situation matters a lot but my mom did this once.
I listen to Heilung and my 3yo son LOVES the song Anoana... but we don't speak the language. So he made up his own words lol... One of the lines he made up and says all the time is "sexy food on a log" (wtf right? lmao)
My mom once while holding my 5mo daughter said "sexy baby on Nana" and everyone just stopped and looked at her. I said "please dont call a baby sexy" ... she almost seemed like she didnt get it. Shes def got a touch of the tism so I tried not to fault her too hard but EW

Some of these comments saying it's fine brings me back to the post where the baby's Dad said she's going to be a good rider when she grows up and everyone said that's fine too 🤮

Sometimes, people say the wrong thing, so I wouldn't blast this woman. Especially since she is a brand new mumma. The shit that does to your brain is real.
It's entirely possible that she meant to say cute, adorable, gorgeous, beautiful, handsome, etc, and accidently said the wrong word.
I messed up a word twice when talking about 2 different teachers; said to a friend that our teacher looked long when I meant young. That stayed with me for a good 16 years or so. Hasn't been brought up much lately, lol. Another teacher used to wear excessive amounts of perfume, tried to say the smell was overwhelming, strong, hurt the nose, etc, but accidently said it was intoxicating.
Shit happens, and people make mistakes even as a natural English speaker.
Would I keep an eye on this mum and be super weirdered out because it feels creepy, absolutely. Would I crucify her? No.
I would have laughed it off and asked if that's what she meant?
