Baby monitors? Owlet sock?

What are people doing for baby monitors and would you suggest or are you getting the owlet sock?

It’s SO hard to know what to get?

FTM, after lots of researching we have got the owlet sock duo. So many friends have recommended it also!

I’m so tempted but it is SO SO much money isn’t it. It’s really disappointing that something like that is so inaccessible for most people even on offer it’s £280 for the duo 😭

Have you looked on Amazon? If you have it on your baby wishlist you can get another 15% off?

I honestly wouldn’t bother unless you really think you need it! I know someone who has one because their child was in NICU and has one because their child has had breathing issues going forward! This is the sort of thing you can probably get next day delivery if you think you need it once baby is here!
Regarding monitors, personally we have a non-WiFi one and it is perfect for when we are somewhere that doesn’t have WiFi and also stops you looking at it if you are out in the future! Like my mum was looking after our daughter on Friday night while we went out for dinner and I know I’d be constantly checking it if I knew I could and it was on my phone! We have the Vtec one with a massive screen which is amazing because you don’t need to be super close to it to see!

We have a leapfrog one for our daughter and it’s been great. We also opted for non-WiFi because I’d read horror stories of WiFi ones being hacked and wasn’t keen on that. Looking at getting a babysense one this time around though so I can have both cameras on one screen, so could be worth looking into if you’re hoping to have more than one 🤗

I’m planning on getting the nanit it’s been highly recommended by my sister and has similar analysis . I highly doubt a baby would get on with the owlet foot monitor and unsure if it fits into sleep suits. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have a Motorolla one, I dont think it has WiFi. To me its a basic monitor with night vision and audio, ive never left our baby overnight longer than 3 hrs with family, they usually send me a pic of him fast asleep for reassurance 🙂
Im due baby no.2 and think that has done the job well for us so doubt ill either getting a duo or different one, but would definitely reccomend as its been great for us x

Vtech one was good!

We have a Hubble nursery pal which has been used every night for 2yrs and never any issues. It can be used with or without WiFi so if you plan to stay somewhere overnight great to take with but you can also check it if you’re out the house on your phone.

I didn’t actually start using the monitor until my boy went in to his own room though. Before that they are pretty much with you 24/7 and likely if they’re in bed, you’re in the one next to them x

I know people have different views but my son was born at 31 weeks and spent 5w in neonatal, and the nurses really discourage the breathing monitors. They actively wean you off them before going home as it can lead to overreliance / not using your instincts and I’m so glad we never used one personally x

Avatar

We never used an owlet. You’ll be surprised at how in tune you are to baby instinctually! If my son moved an inch during the night I would wake up immediately - especially in the early days where I was running off pure anxiety and adrenaline.

He’s currently 20 months and we are co sleeping x

We bought the nanit monitor so it can do both functions, camera and tracking the breathing

We bought the Owlet, but we’ll have to wait until the baby is born to use it! We mainly got it to help calm our anxieties and worries as first-time parents, and it also has amazing reviews. We decided to invest in it because we can use it with our second baby in the future, and we can also lend it to my sister-in-law, who is planning to have a baby in the next two years. So we saw it as a long-term investment.

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

Am I wrong?

I’ve been wanting to add more garden beds to my garden. Husband says “hey do you want to go to Home Depot to get that wood for the garden beds.” Cool I’m excited I’ve been wanting to get this done for awhile.

We get there and we’re picking out wood and I make 2 comments about how I don’t like how 2 pieces of wood look that he picked out. And he says if you’re going to be this picky then u can do this yourself.

I literally made 2 comments and mind you I’m the one paying for the wood.

I felt dismissed and like my opinion didn’t matter and if I wanted to have an opinion then I need to do it myself. Like what?

It was rude and not okay. Am I wrong? Am I overreacting?

He thinks it was fine that he said that.

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
