I’ve just decided to leave my boyfriend yesterday and he’s begged me all night for me to stay with him and he’s in bits over it. We’ve been through a lot together like him developing and physical disability.
I still love and care for him and really want to be with him I thought he’d be the one I’d marry but I haven’t really felt like that. The way I used to anyways with him. Throughout the year there has been lack of effort. I got a kids badminton bat and ball from the spar and funeral flowers for my birthday and had to buy my own Christmas presents. we’ve argued about the same things over and over again and nothing changes it’s like a cycle. But now because I’m leaving he believes that will all change and will start making the effort and now I’m just stuck wondering what to do I hate seeing him hurt like this

He will just repeat the same cycles over and over again if you stay. If a partner only makes effort when they think theyre about to lose you then thats not a healthy relationship. It shows that he is capable of it but chooses not to do so. Mens lives dramatically improve when in a relationship, sadly this is not true for women. It sounds like your already responsible for your happiness and emotional needs, So what is the point of him? Honestly your doing the right thing X

Don’t let guilt keep you stuck. I totally agree with Hazel. Stick with your decision. He shouldn’t be offering to change because you’re leaving, he should want to change and be acting on it because he is unhappy with his own actions. If that’s not the case, then it’s not genuine and is more likely manipulation and false promises to keep you from leaving. You’ve done the right thing, the hardest part is sticking to it.
