Hi, I have my elective tomorrow and wanted to just have some piece or mind on what I need to do when I arrive at hospital, what your experiences have been, if you can already take your bags in with you when you arrive and so on. What happens with your husband afterwards if they can stay all the time with me when we are at the hospital.

I have never had an elective c-section, mine was an emergency, but I am a nurse who has admitted and cared for cesarean patients from admission all the way to postpartum. You will arrive with your parter and belongings. Check in, CHG wipes, shave if needed, get your IV, sign paperwork, ask/answer questions. Then we give some pre-op medications before rolling back. Your parter will not be in the OR for the spinal placement, but he will be called back after your foley catheter is placed and you are ready for surgery to start. This is at least my hospital’s policy. Good luck!
