Anxious

Hi, I’m due in July and have just had my first scan. I’m not from the UK, so I’m feeling a bit anxious about the maternity system as I don’t know anyone who’s given birth here. I was wondering if anyone has any recent birth experiences at Homerton they’d be willing to share, especially about midwife continuity, labour/ delivery, and overall care? Thanks!

Hi! Im due to give birth any day now at Homerton. Second baby.

With neither pregnancy had continuity of care with the midwives. Every week saw someone different and same with consultants.

Had a csection with my first and cant fault them, some people were very supportive and I am spanish my luck! Was that I had a spanish midwife with me during the operation hehe not planned just happened.

My partner as he was more aware during the section mentioned that the person that performed it was a bit rude.
And the things we requested to lower the drapes to see baby come out and such they said no and later on we learnt that I was doable, and that pictures and videos were allowed as long as none of the medical staff were included.

That made me a bit sad but enough to say the experience was bad.

I am a doula and I did my research about hospitals and Homerton was one the best choices for us together with North Middlesex.

Now we are hoping for a Vbac and no a problem from any midwife

Or consultant. Some are more supportive than others, and some see you as another patient and others take the time to check your files and treat you a bit more personal.

Remember that if at any point you are not happy you can change hospitals, so maybe check online the ones you are interested and visit them. They might have also online visits so you don’t have to attend. Good luck!!

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
