I’ve never even given my son any type of juice yet lmao but like.. is she doing this on purpose 😂 I like my MIL (usually) and very grateful that she did me a favor because I had an apt to go to, it’s just weird though and because the comments about the breast milk are so consistent I think she’s actually annoyed I’m still breastfeeding

MIL suck lol but unfortunately thats just some(most) grandparents. They think they have more say so then the parents .

You can give breast milk up until baby is one and it’s very good for the baby but after 6-8 months you can start solids as well but your mil did was not acceptable she could’ve just asked you

Any respectful grandparent that acknowledged the presence of the BM and that he’s still drinking it, would have given him that instead of juice. But regardless of that even they should have checked in with you or the babies other parent regarding juice.

Juice at 10 months is a reach. Like give water instead if you have a problem but if I’m giving you actual liquid gold to feed my baby & you don’t then that would be the last time I use that sitter. MIL or not. So sorry mama

My FIL watched my 13 month old today and I left her a lunch and a bottle of milk. Guess who didn’t serve any of that and guess who was given multiple applesauce pouches (which aren’t even hers 🥴). If anyone has advice on how to talk about this with in-laws please let me know

He's a baby, not a grown man with a 401k 😭 what does she mean "still"

Her son knows this sounds insane right? If you could hold a baby in that wants to come out you should be studied.

This is absolutely insane. Like I feel like these comments are under reacting. Breastmilk /formula should be baby’s first priority for nutrition until 1… it’s not just an OPTION? Grateful for the babysitting, sure. But giving my baby straight sugar liquid instead of the milk I provided would be enough to not trust her with my child again in the near future. That is CRAZYYY of her.

Nah because that would send me into a rage.

Tf else does she think he should be drinking 😭 he’s a literal baby

When I had my first my mom came down to visit when he was about 4 weeks old. One of my main rules was not to put anything in with him while he was sleeping. His dad and I went out to dinner and when I checked the bay cam she had put a big fluffy blanket in with him which was a big no no from me. I immediately put my foot down and texted her saying to remove it right away. She had the attitude of “well I did it with you and your sister and neither of you died”. Some of these grandparents think that just because they did it with their kids they can you it with the grandkids. I stood my ground and my mom listens to everything I say the first time now.

I have a rule I apply to everyone's kids and it's that non parents don't do firsts. No first time having juice. If a first word or a first step happens around me and not mom or dad, no it didn't. I do not know shit. He started when you got here.

Dead ass, she wouldn't be watching my baby. 10 months old?! Their PRIMARY FOOD IS MILK. Wtf do you mean you gave my baby JUICE?! WTF do you mean you knew I gave you breastmilk and you chose to not use it and gave them an unhealthy drink instead? Because juice at 10mths old as a replacement for FOOD is unhealthy. Right there...her judgement was wack and shes playing with my babys health...so no. You cant watch my baby. Thats it. You're done.

Sounds lazy to me. Like she was insisting on an easy time if she's gonna help.....

I would be insanely pissed! Firstly, babies are supposed to be on breast milk or formula until 12 months old. Secondly, sugary (not counting actual fruits) foods and drinks are not recommended at such a young age! You need to have a serious talk to her about this and if she refuses to listen, she can be trusted around him.

Why is she giving him apple juice? That’s so weird he’s 10 months old my 11 month old nearly one has never had juice bit strange that she just didn’t give him the milk him being so little still and still relying on the breastmilk for all his nutrients. food is fun before they are one I’dI’d be fuming. It’s crazy how people just do things like that. He’s your baby. Why is she even questioning or thinking about questioning what you’re doing as a mother. This is what I hate about people.

I’ll personally would be having a conversation with her around this because who is she to make decisions for your own child

Nah I would lose my shit!

Older people seem to look down on breast feeding because they didn’t do it or not long. I had the same issue with people respecting how I want to raise my child it’s hard respecting boundaries is a conversation that needs to be had and stay firm!

That’s weird most of my snappy judgmental family members make comments about moms who decide to stop before 1yr, even if it wasn’t a choice 😵💫
there will always be people ready to judge moms no matter what…

I think it’s the fucking wild Wild West with some grandparents lol. I would give very specific instructions if I left my son with anyone at that age like a bottle of BM at 5, solids at 6, nap at 7, etc and include how to warm up the milk properly and any other info needed.

They love to say well i raised so and so many kids and they turned out fine 😒

I'd be fuming!

My mom did the same thing and gave my son that was only 8 months peanut butter worst nightmare of my life 😳😱

My case is different I felt so week so doctor asked me to stop after his 1st bday

I was engorged after pumping out the milk it was a little fattier than usual , My mother in law threw 150ml of it away , she said it was expired Bm

Omg! I would have lost my shit 🤪

MIL.just omg I'd never be like that. Id respect my daughter/son in laws wishes for how to take care of their baby
