I need some help and reassurance!
I have been diagnosed with gallstones post partum and been referred for surgery. On referral my symptoms were really minimal, but over the last 2 weeks things have gotten crazy worse. I'm having issues daily, not able to sleep and struggling to eat and feel sick all of the time. I've asked my GP to change my referral to urgent which they have done now. But has anyone had any experience of gallstones causing something else like pancreatitis? How do I know when something more is happening? Why is it suddenly SO awful!

Have you switched to a low fat diet? Are you keeping track of what could be triggering it? Is it attack like pain constantly? Message me if you want to talk, I was diagnosed in September last year

Hi girl, so sorry you’re going through this. I didn’t have pancreatitis but I did pass a stone in to my bile duct which gave me jaundice symptoms. The whites of my eyes were yellow, I was itchy and I had quite a severe attack of pain when it entered the duct.
I also had cholecystitis which causes more constant symptoms. Unfortunately, there’s not much they do for any of those things apart from provide you with codeine. It’s rubbish until it comes out x

So sorry to hear you’re going through this! I had exactly the same thing in November. Unfortunately for me, it took them so long to do scans and have me seen etc that I ended up in A&E which then turned into a 9 day hospital stay due to acute pancreatitis and pneumonia. Genuinely not trying to scare you, but if I could go back, I’d have shouted and screamed at whoever I needed to to hurry the process along so I didn’t end up in that situation. I knew it got worse when I couldn’t get off the bathroom floor and was being violently sick! Please please speak up and advocate for yourself to get it sorted because if you need surgery and it can be done, the sooner the better. Wishing you a speedy recovery x

I’m currently in the middle of my first attack since November so completely understand. I know people have said to me before there comes a point where even doing the low fat diet etc. doesn’t really help. If it’s really really painful and all the time I’d go to a&e, they’d probably do bloods to see what your liver levels are like.
