Hi mamas! 👋 We’re moving to Winnipeg from San Francisco soon. I have 2 under 2 and looking for an advice and/or recommendations on daycare. Anything you could share would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏼
Also happy to meet mums in the area 😊

If you know what area you’re moving to, look up all childcare centres in that area, or within a radius you wouldn’t mind driving. Put your eggs in every basket and apply to all of the centres asap. Childcare is insanely hard to come by here, it’s common for parents to be on wait lists for years.

Apply anywhere and everywhere in or around the area you’re living and working. Waitlists are long, I was lucky to get my baby in when she was 15 months old.

You’ll want to look for centers. Daycare in the centers is $10 a day through the government but there are 2 year + long waitlists. There are private daycares that are $35 a day, there’s Facebook groups based on your area and also Winnipeg home daycare and you usually interview or meet the person and see their contract and make sure it fits your needs

Waitlist are wildly long at the centers since the 10$ a day fees became a thing. I have been on some lists for years. I had better luck with home daycares. I found an amazing one on Kijiji actually that my son has been at for years now. There is also Facebook groups for home daycares that you could join
