5 week old won’t sleep

I’m ready for tearing my hair out.. 5 week old will not sleep through the day properly unless we’ve been out in the car or she’s been in the sling.
This evening she’s been awake since 5pm, fussing, only feeding a couple of oz then wanting more. She’s slept for maybe 2x 30 min windows and I’m now so conscious she’s overtired and it’s just a vicious circle. Surely she’s going to crash soon and does anyone else feel my pain 😭🫩 starting to feel like I really can not do this. I’m so defeated

Aww I'm really sorry you both are going through this. Does she have wind?

She may have colic, my 7 week old was very similar from 4 weeks. Ive been using Infacol and colic bottles, thankfully we've had better days/ nights for the past week 🤞

It may be that, hopefully you all get some sleep soon x

4 weeks here and definitely becoming more challenging to get her to sleep in an evening , a lot of rocking, BF on and off/ dummy inserting and sling use going on 🤦‍♀️

I’m exactly the same, 5 weeks and he will not sleep unless in the car/buggy/on the move
He’s not fussing anymore.. we used infacol to help with the wind, but he just lies there and won’t sleep or has 15-30 min naps and it makes putting him down to bed a screaming match because he’s too tired to eat but too hungry to sleep!
I completely get where you’re at

Sending good luck your way ❤️

We’ve got the same today/tonight with our 4 week old. Besides one 3 hour nap stretch this morning each nap the rest of the day has been no longer than an hour. Constantly on/off breastfeeding. I have a feeling we are in for a long night….

What’s the setting like during the day I had issues with my 5 weeks old having huge wake windows then being overtired and fussy at night , I learnt quite quickly I couldn’t have things like her facing the tv or the lamp needed to be behind her because she would
Fixate on them and just stay awake quite content looking at particular things. Your situation does sound different to mine but just incase thought I’d comment xx

I’m in the same boat. She fights sleep so much during the day, I put her down and she’s instantly awake. She gets to the point in the evening where she is screaming so much because she’s overtired, it’s exhausting

Do you have a carrier/sling? I feel like I can always settle my baby down with baby wearing. It's not ideal obviously if your goal is to also have a nap or to have a shower or something but it might help?
My first wouldn't ever be put down for a nap in the day and I was never able to get around that, he always had to he moving in the pram or sleeping on me so I understand your frustration.

My daughter is 7 weeks old today and exactly the same right now. She only wants to sleep on my chest and fights and screams when I try to get her to latch.
I've been trying giving her a feed, a bath, a baby massage and then another feed at night. It seem to help give us a couple of hours break.

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
