How are you making bottles? The whole process please

I’m using the Milton steriliser the cold water one. I clean every bottle in the morning & do a fresh bucket.

I boil the kettle and get the bottle and all parts out of the bucket & then rinse them under the cold tap then I measure the water in the bottle and leave around 1oz in the bottle and put 3oz in the rapid cooler then I mix the formula in the hot water & add the cold water to the bottle & that’s it.

Is this right? I’m so scared I’m doing something wrong

When my first was on formula this was how I made mine - the only difference was I left my bottles out to dry overnight (the feeling of wet bottles gave me the ick lol). Sounds good to me though lovely x

Are you talking about bulk making them or making 1 at a time?

Why are you rinsing the bottles under tap water after sterilising? That defeats the point no?

I feel like Milton is so complicated now that you need to rinse with drinking water. As I understand, you should not use water straight from the tap to rinse. It needs to be boiled in a kettle, cooled, then used to rinse. For this reason we got rid of the Milton and bought a steam steriliser. It’s so easy and takes no time at all. It’s also the same size as the Milton and no drying rack required, so saves on space.

In respect of the rapid cool, I think you are supposed to add all the water to the rapid cool, not just some of it?

I don't know what bottles you are using but I use tommee tippee as they are the easiest to microwave sterilise. If you are using Milton rinsing under the tap is fine.

I wash and sterilise all my bottles in the microwave and they are then good to use for 24 hours after. I also boil a kettle first thing and use a flask to keep my boiling water for the day so I'm not constantly boiling kettles and can go out easily. I also keep formula measured out in pots to save myself time.

When making a bottle I:
- measure water into bottle
- pour all but 1oz into rapid cool
- mix powder with boiling water in bottle
- when rapid cool is green mix that water into bottle
- check bottle is cool enough and feed

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
