What car seats are you using?

Hiya,

I need to get a new seatbelt fitted carseat - any suggestions please? There's loads of overlap with the type of car seat that can technically be used at this age but massive differences in safety. I have a high-backed booster seat already for when he's older so it doesn't need to be one that converts.

Thanks!

The safest choice is an extended rear facing seat from a brand like Axkid. Which one really depends on his centiles. You'd be best reaching out to a specialist retailer, they can advise on the safest seat that will last the longest for their centiles. I've used Little Cherubs South West for my car seats and she's been fab with aftercare support too, despite me living the other side of the country.

Please don't forward face, especially not in a 5 point harness. Internal decapitation is a high risk for forward facing children below the age of 5.

We have the axkid minikid and the Avionaut stardust ( that’s only going to last for lower percentile kids though my daughters the 9th)

Definitely Axkid like the others have said. We have one that does him until 6/7 years rear facing. Ours is isofix but they do seatbelt ones too xx

There is a group called 'Car seat safety uk' on Facebook which is useful for recommendations, especially when looking at extended rear facing. As other have said Axkid are really recommended, I think we'll be looking at an Axkid Movekid or Minikid next as they can rearface for much longer ☺️

I would look at an Axkid or Britax extended rear facing seat

I’ve got a britax max safe pro. It’s bulky but a great seat and Swedish plus tested x

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
