Were you able to have your partner with you overnight?
When I gave birth there in 2024, I was allowed my partner.
I’m due to have another c section and will really struggle without my partner as the midwives were useless last time and never answered buzzer.

I was on the recovery ward in December after my section, and my partner had to leave at midnight and was only able to come back at 6am. However, I was a bit annoyed as the woman over from me kicked off so she was allowed to have her partner stay - which they decided to have full blown conversations at the top of their voices all night 🫠

No, partner wasn't allowed to stay and I gave birth in September.. the midwives weren't awful, but the health care assistants or whoever they are in green, were amazing. Also not sure if this is helpful or not but for what it's worth, I was able to stand and stuff a lot sooner this time with it being my second section and maybe knowing what to expect, I don't know if that helped but yeah 😊 x

I had my second born there in 2024 and first born in 2021. First time they were great. Second time beyond horrendous. I get a room on care plan but was on a ward night son came (both mine were c sections. First emergency second planned). I was in for about 3 weeks before second birth as was so poorly and two weeks after until I discharged myself because I wasn’t getting any better and the care was beyond horrendous. I had all these new pains nobody listened. My infection markers were 166 dangerously high and consultants didn’t know what was up so they shrugged their shoulders and did fuck all. Fobbed off a ct scan despite needing one and ultrasounds doing nothing. Threee diff midwives I called for, all left to get me meds while I was crying in agony and never came back. Took my night midwife to come off her break to realise nobody bothered to care for me. She was so wound up for me when she saw we were discharging ourselves as she had seen how bad my recovery was and only one who

I had my 2nd in Jan 2026 and partners can't stay overnight but can stay till midnight. But I know if your in a room usually partners can stay as my partner did in November 2023 when my 1st was on NICU and we were in a side room both were c sections 1 emergency one planned .

Hey lovely! My biggest bit of advice would be to advocate for yourself. Explain on admission that you’re incredibly anxious about being alone. Many midwives will help if they have rooms available and are able to turn a blind eye to your partner staying 💞 xx
Thank you everyone for your advice. I had a great experience this time round and the midwives were so helpful! I believe this is because I was on another recovery ward for planned sections so it was much more quiet!
I see lots of babies on social media already holding their head and mine only lifts it briefly for a few seconds on tummy time and for a second when holding her upright.
Also she’s not rolling yet.
Just turned 3 months .

I went for my anatomy scan she said baby girl is perfect. But then referred me for a 2nd anatomy scan to check for placental problems. I asked was there signs of any issues and she said it’s just a precaution. But many of my mom friends say they haven’t had to get a 2nd opinion and feel she should have be more straight forward.

Hi guys, I was wondering how I’d go about calling the maternity unit at the hospital to let them know I’m in labour in preparation of a water birth. I was told by my midwife to contact them once I start labour but unsure whether I’d call 999 or triage as it wasn’t clear in the conversation.

My 7 month old hates water, I have tried everything and there is no way he will drink any water at all, just spits it out.
Any recommendation? x

I had a vaginal birth but had a second degree tear and also had stitches for a vaginal wall repair. Healing has been sore but i'd say with time has got better but this past week i've had green discharge and it has become uncomfortable, I think from wearing some form of pad for the last 6 weeks as they tend to irritate my skin down there? Though I can't not wear one because of the discharge and occasional lochia etc though that is clearing now.
It is the weekend so I'm stuck until Monday now but is there anything I can do? I'm keeping clean and not using soaps down there etc but I think it might need anti-biotics and I'm not exactly keen on having someone look at it🫠
