My 2 and half year old daughter will be having surgery at the end of March due to severe obstructive sleep apnea and recurrent ear infections every month. Any other mummy’s with little ones that have had this surgery that can tell me what it’s like, and any tips they can give to me on how to help her with recovery please I would be so grateful. Thank you 💕

I'm not sure if it's the same but my 6 year old had his tonsils out last September, I had seen it was bad for adults but not kids.
He was fine, he woke from the surgery it was about 40 minutes long from going down to waking up. And he was giving a little food bag and juice and had to have something to eat before we could go home. He was sat eating a sandwich and crisps from the bag within 20 minutes. He had no pain and when kept up with paracetamol and ibuprofen for about a week, he was in pain day 3. But by tea time he was fine again. He just didn't talk to much. But we were encouraged to keep him off school 2 weeks and away from anyone with a cold and crowds and to just give food as normal not soft options as it helped with healing. X

I had my tonsils and adenoids out as a child and i was about 7 so I was quite a bit older than your daughter but I was home within a couple hours. I did end up with an infection which im guessing is why it was painful for me tho. I'd defo recommend letting her have things like ice cream and ice lollies if she shows signs of pain I remember that was the only thing that helped soothe it. Wishing you both all the best I'm sure she'll be absolutely fine kids are so resilient x

My son has his tonsils and adenoids removed just before his 3rd birthday in November for the same reason reasons as your daughter. The recovery is tough especially the first few days but constant pain relief and snuggles helped my son. I fed him food little and often of things he wanted (I know not ideal especially when all he wanted was cake or yogurt) but after the first few days when the pain started to ease a bit I was able to get more substantial food into him.
After the surgery coming out of the anesthetic was tough he was really confused and scared as he didn’t know what was going on but anything you can use for comfort like blankets or comforters or in my sons case his dummy really helped.
I wish you both the best of luck with everything and hope it all goes well x

Hi,
Our little girl had this done 3months ago now. It was the best decision we ever made!
The surgeon found old puss that was stuck between her ear drum and the glue ear “stuff”. Poor little thing was literally having temperatures every week and must have just felt awful for months 😢
Her tonsils were very enlarged, and her breathing when asleep was terrifying. Now when she’s asleep I can’t even hear her breathing. Only just stopped checking her at night because I was convinced she’s stopped breathing entirely 😂😂
Her sleep is MASSIVELY improved. She’s sleeping through consistently and because she’s well rested now, it’s like we had our little girl back 🥹
I knew the first few days would be tough, but o-one talks about the day 4-6 where the scabs form and the pain intensifies.
She actually ate and drank quite well post surgery. Use the oramorph. I was reluctant to use too much but the difference when we did made me realise she needed.

Also, watch out for constipation. Our little girl already struggled before but the anaesthetic andoramorph led to an impacting and my goodness I would wish that one anyone 😭 xx
Hope all goes well!

hello !
They’ve recommended for my son to have his out. He’ll be 3 soon. May I ask if you have any issues now because of the surgery growing up/ in your adult life?

Hello Carla , hope you and your little one are well? Hope the surgery was okay! Do you have any update at all that you can share ? My son is also 2 and snores Betsy loudly, had recent ear infection and tends to pause breathing some nights. They have recommended removing the adenoids as they are enlarged. Just want as much info as possible. Any tips or things no one has told you but you experienced ? Xx

Plenty of yoghurts or ice cream for first week or so. But she did pretty much eat her normal foods. The only thing that worried me was the risk of bleeding so they gave us information to look out for, kept her in bed with me for first few nights and then put her back in her own bed when the risks of the bleeding went down. But yes she was absolutely fine and doing well. If there’s any other questions you have just reach out. You definitely need a lot to entertain them whilst waiting to go down to surgery as can be quite a long time. Like drawing or drawing pads, tablet if you have one and a comfort that they like as going into the surgery bit can be quite daunting for them as there is loads of people in the room.
My partner does his own washing (great!) and I do mine and our toddler’s.
Sometimes I put toddler’s clothes straight in the washing machine if they are ditched, with a view that I’ll do a load later.
But this morning, my partner needed to do a load of washing and instead of washing our toddler’s clothes with his (toddler had a vest, jumper, and a top), my partner took our toddler’s clothes out, put them on the side, so he could wash his own clothes???
Why not just chuck our toddler’s clothes in with his?
This has happened twice now and he’s never washed our toddlers clothes

Has anyone had the flu jab during pregnancy and feeling absolutely horrendous? I had the jab last Friday and since Saturday I have been absolutely written off, blocked nose, terrible chesty cough, headache and sweats. Wondering whether I should of got it done in the first place 😭😭

Husband wants me to stay off my phone when breastfeeding day or night. He says the phone is too close to the baby's head. Husband is annoyed that I said No. I'm up doing nights and baby's in my arms and I should stay off my phone. Ridiculous. He said i should read or listen to something instead.
😒
Thoughts? Anyone else doing this.
FYI i'm not on my phone all feeds. Just at 3 something in the morning when I have had minimal sleep yes I am on my phone trying to stay awake.

My little girl is 15 weeks and for the last 3ish weeks has been fighting every day time nap, and bedtime.
She doesn’t have strict wake windows and I just follow her sleepy cues, which are usually rubbing eyes, yawning, and staring into space. When she gets to this point I will give her her dummy to soothe into sleep, but she resists it to the point I have to rock her whilst she screams for 20 minutes before finally falling asleep.
She only wakes twice in the night around 1:30 for a feed and again at 6:30.
Is there a way to stop this or will she just naturally learn to fall asleep peacefully one day? 😂

My period still hasn’t returned an my baby turned one last month! I kinda thought it would have returned by now.. a couple weeks ago I got symptoms that had me thinking I may be ovulating but still no period. Even took a pregnancy test today just to make sure. Anyways, if you did get yours was it after you cut down on breastfeeding sessions or eliminated overnight feeds? My baby has only ever fed at breast never taken a bottle but he took right to solids at 6 months and now eats lots. He maybe breast feeds once or twice throughout the day but still wakes overnight a few times and I nurse him back to sleep.
