How do you control an 18 month old

I don’t know what happened but suddenly my 18 month old is completely and utterly crazy. His obsession is unplugging things and then trying to plug them back in. Of course I redirect him and tell him not to do this and show him what’s right he’s emptying drawers. He’s throwing his food on the floor. I tried to calmly redirect him all these things nothing is working I never ever hit my first and didn’t even need to ever yell at him and he is the sweetest child ever. There were no terrible twos as my first. I don’t know what to do. He is constantly screaming and throwing tantrums. He wants me to hold him and then he wants to get down and do something crazy and this Is all day. Does anyone have any recommendations because I’m absolutely losing my mind. He is constantly making a mess. He refuses to sit in his highchair and they gave him a plate and he eats sometimes well and then others he just throws it all over the floor. I’m sure I’m not doing something right, but I don’t know what it is and I don’t know where to go.

I certainly don’t know. My 18 month old has screamed since she was about three weeks old. It’s not just crying. It is full on screaming and has the newborn page and honestly my nervous system is fried. I am trying so hard. I feel so bad for my oldest. I feel bad for my husband and truth be told. I feel bad for me. I feel bad for my 18 month old because she thinks this is the only effective way of communicating. It doesn’t matter if she is happy if she is sad if she is mad if she is hurt she is screaming. The screaming is endless the only time she stops as if she’s asleep and she will wake up from a dead sleep, screaming for hours. We are all losing sleep. It’s like she’s a newborn again and I wish I had advice. I just want you to know that you are not alone.

I’ve had similar issues with my 18 almost 19 month old. When he starts throwing food in the floor I do a couple different things. First I’ll tell him “if you don’t want it you can put it here” (I usually use the little cup holder portion of his tray).

Second I’ll take the food away and say something along the lines of “ if you if you don’t want to eat, that’s OK, but we’re not going to throw food in the floor. We leave it on our tray.” I will then try giving him the food back if he seems like he wants it and/or offer him a bite that I feed to him to test and see if he’s hungry. If he doesn’t seem to want it then I’ll just get him down and not push it.

Something I heard a pediatrician say that has also seemed to make a difference is giving the child less food. At this age, children can become overwhelmed very easily. So giving less at a time and more servings seems to work really well.

Hi my twins are the same age. A lot of this is normal. Why is he able to reach plugs though? Block him from anything unsafe because babies are curious and want to explore. He isn't misbehaving, he doesn't know any better. They still need repetition and will learn what is yes or no.
It sounds like he isn't hungry enough. Maybe he eats too many snacks in between meals? What does he drink? Hopefully nothing with sugar.

Is he having sleep issues? Sleep can be a major factor in behaviour regulation that we often forget about.

My son has been trying to unplug and plug stuff back in for a while now. I normally just remind him that it hurts. Since he has accidentally shocked himself. Even then it didn’t bother him 🙃 but usually having him take something else out and in helps!

U dont. U stay calm. Allow them to co regulate with u, allow enough time for them to get physical input throughout the day, learn to give heads up before transitions like diapers time or leaving the house would get a 5 min heads up, remember now you can start using natural consequences as they are now technically toddlers. If they keep throwing a ball at someone face, u take the ball from them or take them away from the ball . Overtime they learn, ignore bad behaviour (the tantrums etc) not the child, lisa brunnage has alot of great advice her podcast is called brat busters. I feel pretty confident these days to handle most things my child throws at me because of her advice and because it works!

16 month old and 12 weeks pregnant

I am 4’10 and as the title states 12 weeks pregnant. My son will be 23 months old when his sibling is born. I recently moved from FL to MI so my son could grow up around in laws, but that doesn’t mean I have my village. ❤️‍🩹 We were planning to buy a larger home next year but the surprise baby (I was told I’d not be able to conceive again after a botched c-section) we likely won’t be moving until the following year into a bigger home. Does anyone have advice or has been through having 2 under 2 and still wanting to get back into college online as well as managing a small home with very limited yard space? We had planned so well and ended up being hit 70mph head on in the middle of a custody case for my nephew and my identity being stolen in the six figures. We fell pretty hard and picking up the pieces. It feels like Groundhog Day everyday, especially not knowing people or having my own village. My husbands’ family has a strong mentality of only blood is family so I am just an outsider living 1000 miles away from anyone I know, home alone 6x a week and feeling defeated and scared about baby on the way. I felt like I was just getting back to feeling like me before pregnancy began. Did anyone else lose their sense of self, identity, other than being a mom, once becoming a mother?

Help

My son is 18 months and he does not eat pieces of anything he still has pures and little pasta and some lumpy pieces but he will not eat a big piece/chunk unless it’s something that I am having. If I try to give him pieces of fruit/vegetables he will end up just playing with it rather than eating it. I don’t know what to do.

Worried a little bit, did this happen to anyone else

I was out today with my daughter in her pram, well we were walking under some trees to a cafe literally seconds away, well we got there and I saw something on my daughters hand, I took her hand to know what was on it and realised, I quickly held her hand and wiped it down with baby wipes, while full on having an argument with my husband because he couldn't hear in the busy cafe what was going on, it was just a little bit on her hand, it was mainly on the side of her pram, inside and her blanket, which I quickly removed, I grabbed my daughter and whisked her to the loos and did a full wash of her hands and full explore of her mouth and lips to see if he put them in, I found nothing and I checked, I refused to put her in her pram for the rest of the day, I used the baby carrier, I got some anti bac spray for the pram and as soon as I back at out rented holiday cottage I took the insert and anything else that can be washed out the pram to wash in the washing machine, I have done it correctly, I am still thinking about it

Why am I still in love with him and want to try again?

I, 29F have been with my kids father(40M) on and off for over 9 years. We're going to call him D. D has always been a good man throughout our relationship and an amazing father to our two children which are both boys aged between 10 and 8. We always went out or spent amazing time together as a couple and as a family up until recently. He has become super mean always yelling or copping an attitude when it's totally unnecessary. He picks fights over stupid stuff and would yell at the children for things that they didn't need to be yelled at for. Well, skipping to this year. He yelled at me so much to where I have a fear of him living with me. He's thrown things around the house breaking stuff and destroying anything within arms reach. All of it is because he felt he was losing control. He said it was my attitude telling him what to do or me complaining about how much I do and none of what he did. I work full time as what the kids call a midnight ballerina. I also do all the grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, getting the kids to and from school, as well as care for his needs and paying all the bills. He hasn't been working at all. Just been hanging out with his friends claiming he was working. I got tired of him not doing anything. I really mean nothing. I was taking Uber to and from work while D had a vehicle. I ended up kicking him out. He's been out of the house for a little over a month now. He told me he never agreed to leave before leaving. What I'm getting at here is, why do I miss him so much when he called me names when I tried to get him to get a job? Why do I miss him when I would watch him go nuts throwing stuff around the house and foam at the mouth when he yelled at me? Why do I miss him even though he screamed at me in front of our children? Am I in the wrong for demanding him to get a job? Am I in the wrong for kicking him out? I came here because I want someone else's opinion that I don't know. Can someone please help me understand what I'm feeling and point me on the right path?

Screen time help

I’m kind of new to this stay at home mom thing. We have recently done a huge move from Canada to the United States. Previously I had my son who is non verbal autistic, enrolled in preschool and day care, so he was kept busy most of the day.
With the move, I am unable to work with the visa I’m on but also decided it was probably best to stay home with my boys. We live in Nevada, and I haven’t heard the greatest things about the school system here, especially for non verbal kiddos.
My problem now is we spend way too much time watching tv. It’s really hot here in the afternoons so I don’t love spending too much time outside. We try and hit that in the mornings.
I also have a 1 year old, so I like to be home in the afternoon so he can have a nap.
It’s also not as easy as “just play with your kid” well I wish I could, but it’s really hard to get engagement from him. I also have adhd, and since there’s no feedback loop of interaction, I get very easily bored. So I feel like an awful parent on my phone all the time.
Looking for advice, maybe help with a routine.
