If you live above others are you considerate of your downstairs neighbours or do you allow your kids to stomp about like elephants?

Also are you aware of the noise your household makes or would you say you’re oblivious to it?

I’ve lived below so many noisy neighbours which allow their kids to be stomping and banging at silly hours of the night but they themselves also stomp/ drag tables and chairs etc.

I find it enraging and have had to speak to them on various occasions - my child does run up and down because he’s a child. But if i hear him stomping i tell him to pick up his feet and once it hits 6/6.30pm it’s time to sit down and settle. Would hate to be seen as the inconsiderate neighbour but I feel like others don’t care unless its bothering them which i find disrespectful

I used to live upstairs and constantly kept my son and his friends in check. Now, I live downstairs and the upstairs peeps don't seem to care at all! It's frustrating 😒

The buildings I lived in I have never been able to hear my neighbours but I also don’t stomp around or make loud noises so I think if I lived somewhere that my neighbours could hear I’d be a good neighbour lol.

We keep to quite hours, which is later than 6:30pm lol but set up& agreed upon in our leases

I say cut it at a reasonable hour but for me that would be 8-9pm as someone ca be going to sleep, not 6pm. Also you should consider the flooring and estructure of the building, my upstairs neighbour is loud af since before dawn and late night past midnight, yet is not his fault because the floor cracks at every step he makes, so I don’t complain because I know he can’t do anything about it. I must certainly curse him every time is late or really early as my baby might wake up, but just out of frustration not to him him, you know? Not saying that is your case but it could be.

I live downstairs and I too am enraged by the people upstairs, it honestly sounds like they are bowling and skateboarding up there.... So rude!

I used to be convinced my upstairs neighbours wore bricks for shoes 🙄 they also had a kid who rode his push bike up and down the apartment constantly. Sooooo glad I don't live there anymore

Honestly. Whenever somebody complains about their upstairs neighbors being loud I think about the episode of friends where they clean out Mr. Heckles' apartment and find out that he wasn't lying about them being really loud. I definitely wouldn't let my kid stomp all around, but maybe it just sounds like that and they're not being that inconsiderate

I've actually had the worst upstairs neighbours in the past and it really does bring out a different type of rage 😅 but now that we are on the top floor we are conscious of the people below us and don't stomp around.
Weirdly, I can still hear the people below stomping, don't know how that works 🤔

Avatar

if you can hear the neighbours below you stomping and being loud, just be grateful you don’t live directly below them 😩

Avatar

no they’re definitely being loud and inconsiderate. I can hear the screams as they run up and down.

Avatar

honestly its so draining to hear.

my son goes to sleep around 7-7.30pm so i cut it off an hr early so he has time to unwind and relax. However, if he went to sleep later i’d still cut it off at that time because to hear constant stomping through the night when you’ve probably had a busy hectic day is honestly exhausting.

Obviously hearing the floor creaking is a different situation tho still annoying - my post is literally about those with kids who are just unaware of their surroundings and inconsiderate to others.

Avatar

honestly i’m jealous. Rn im on the top floor so thankfully no one above me. But i can hear the new neighbours that just moved in below me. I just dont understand lol. Because if i can hear it loudly surely they must recognise just how loud they are?

I used to have next door neighbours whose dogs whined for hours during the day and it was quite distressing to listen to. They just used to leave them alone all day.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
