Breastfeeding

I’m currently 6 days postpartum and have quite a quick let down of breastmilk. My baby only feeds for about 5-10 minutes every few hours. He has a strong latch and gulps milk down but it just seems very quick for this age. I breastfed my oldest for 13 months and I remember this as he got older but not this early on. Does anyone else have the same? It’s very handy but I’m also worried he’s not drinking enough. If I then try him on the other side or try and put him back on he clearly doesn’t want it

I have the exact same. My little man is 3 weeks and drinks for 5-10 mins total.

I'm the same though. Once he latches, a very high volume of milk comes out and he has to properly gulp to drink it (he's also known to choke on it a bit 😅).

He has been steadily gaining weight and no one is concerned.

It was the exact same for my now 2.5 year old. X

My 1st was the same and so is this one! I think they’re just very efficient 😊 if you’re worried you could have him weighed to make sure he’s putting on weight

We're in the same position, at this stage with baby 1 we were sitting for 2hrs at a time, yet baby 2 is done in a few mins. The midwife said so long as plenty of dirty nappies then nothing to be concerned about!

Same here. Occasionally we get to 10 mins but usually less time and she rarely wants a second boob. Sounds like she's gulping loads and weight is going on fine so I guess she's efficient but I will check with midwife as it does seem quite quick for this age. It's impossible not to worry about everything- if she was slow I'd be worrying about that too!

Would this bug you?

My partner does his own washing (great!) and I do mine and our toddler’s.

Sometimes I put toddler’s clothes straight in the washing machine if they are ditched, with a view that I’ll do a load later.

But this morning, my partner needed to do a load of washing and instead of washing our toddler’s clothes with his (toddler had a vest, jumper, and a top), my partner took our toddler’s clothes out, put them on the side, so he could wash his own clothes???

Why not just chuck our toddler’s clothes in with his?

This has happened twice now and he’s never washed our toddlers clothes

Being on phone whilst breastfeeding or holding baby

Husband wants me to stay off my phone when breastfeeding day or night. He says the phone is too close to the baby's head. Husband is annoyed that I said No. I'm up doing nights and baby's in my arms and I should stay off my phone. Ridiculous. He said i should read or listen to something instead.

😒

Thoughts? Anyone else doing this.

FYI i'm not on my phone all feeds. Just at 3 something in the morning when I have had minimal sleep yes I am on my phone trying to stay awake.

Fighting sleep

My little girl is 15 weeks and for the last 3ish weeks has been fighting every day time nap, and bedtime.

She doesn’t have strict wake windows and I just follow her sleepy cues, which are usually rubbing eyes, yawning, and staring into space. When she gets to this point I will give her her dummy to soothe into sleep, but she resists it to the point I have to rock her whilst she screams for 20 minutes before finally falling asleep.

She only wakes twice in the night around 1:30 for a feed and again at 6:30.

Is there a way to stop this or will she just naturally learn to fall asleep peacefully one day? 😂

Breastfeeding problem

My baby girl is 3 months old now and fights and screams whenever I try to lay her down to breastfeed. When/if I can finally get her latched she is really hungry but getting her to latch when she is that frustrated is very difficult. I have tried to sit her up when I feed her but with the way my boob hangs we just end up in a more awkward position and she gets even more frustrated. Any advice?
