Do you drop your school aged children to school on time?

I'm one of those parents that needs a school bus. Also why does the learning part happen like 2 hrs after doors open?? How much wind down time do they need? This doesn't help my tardiness lol

They get dropped off a little bit early. The buses come WAYYYY too early for us. They get driven in.

My daughter started taking the bus last year and I don’t think I’m ever going back 🤣

I’ve never heard of school starting 2 hours after the kids have to be at school? In my school kids could come in at a certain time and eat breakfast. Everyone had to be in class by a certain time. It was like 30 minutes and no one is late until the actual school bell

Our school gate opens at 8:40 so we leave at 8:15 to walk there and have a few mins at the playground first. School only allow a 5 minute window per year group for drop off so we either have to use wraparound care or be on time.

Mine haven’t been late a day yet this year lol I need to wake up early and feel prepared in order to function properly and get a good start to my day so the routine makes it hard for me to accidentally be late or something. Also my kiddos like to get there early to have breakfast at school with their friends even though they eat breakfast at home too, they just love to eat 😂

We live 5 minutes away from the school and my oldest doesn’t like to be outside when the bell rings, bothers his ears, so I drop them off as soon and the gate opens. Which is 730, class starts at 8

My kids have never been late for school. Couple reasons. First, I’m an early riser and so is my oldest, so we’re never really on a time crunch. And two, I get massive anxiety if I think I’m even going to be a couple minutes late for something, so I’m always early. Whether it’s school or a doctors appointment or a play date lol. My dad was/is like this so I’m sure that’s where I got it from 😅

My school age goes to before school care now but previously I would be late a couple times a month. It’s stressful trying to get everyone ready and out the door! Before school care has been a blessing because for some reason it’s less stressful. We get up super early and there’s less time crunch. Not sure why we didn’t just get up earlier when we didn’t do the early care but whatever we have a system now 🙈

morning meeting is very important to build classroom community, work on social / emotional skills, and is often the only time kids get routine calendar time for weather and stuff. An hour long seems a little long! But having time set aside for a morning meeting is great and a sign of a good school imo!

Gates open at 830 and they shut at 845. I always get there around 825 to get a parking space as small village school so hard to park at it sometimes!

We have never been late, we walk up there and usually get there a couple of minutes before the gates open at 8.45.

My kids are always a little early unless an appointment or something. Honestly I've raised kids for 22 years and we've only been tardy for no real reason maybe a handful of times. That's mostly because punctuality was extremely drilled into me growing up so being late gives me bad anxiety.

I use the bus service unless it's special events happening at the school. School starts at 8. We only get a 5 minute grace period then you are late.

School is 3 streets behind us so he scoots to school every day, I get 2000 steps there and back so in a day it’s already 4000 steps just doing that twice lol. He’s only ever been late like twice, I hate being late because you have to go to office and there’s a machine that prints out a “late pass” but by the time you go there’s 6-7 other kids waiting so instead of 5min late we end up being 15min late because of the sign in process. Because of that I have a timer on my phone to brush teeth leave house etc because being late to THIS school is a right PITA. You can’t just walk in to class you have to get a late pass

We homeschool & one of our favorite things is being able to have slower mornings.

We're starting a garden & getting our first livestock soon, so our mornings are going to start earlier than we're used to but we can still go at out on pace.

I wish I had lateness anxiety. Here we are, running late again

Challenging behaviour

I need help please! I am overwhelmed and sad. I am currently 17weeks pregnant with my second child amd my Son is 3 years and 10months old. He goes to nursery 3 days a week and over the past 6 months, he was said to have been exhibiting challenging behaviours such as hitting people, scratching and screaming when he is upset at nursery. He is different at home but when he's upset, he just cries at home. In nursery, he refuses to share toys or anything and hits at the slightest provocation. No one hits him at home so I don't know why he has developed such behaviours all of a sudden. His nursery manager has made us reduce his hours to 2 hrs 30 mins per day which is so tight for me as I work full time. I have tried talking to him, teaching him about safe hands and setting boundaries but nothing at all has changed, i don't know what else to do at this point. His dad (my husband) works far away and comes over the weekend, so there's only little that i can do. I need help please, any suggestions is welcomed.

EYFS Nursery

Anyone encountered something in nursery that required some form of feedback or complain?

from what I’m reading, nurseries are supposed to meet individual baby needs and not make them follow nursery schedule.
But most time they said they tried, but never did and make baby follow their own time due to lack of staff.

For example when they r supposed to put baby to sleep or feed milk, they say they can’t (and tried) but in actual fact they have not tried. Inconsistent updates from different nursery staff as well.

I’m worried. If basic updates are inconsistent even. How are we even gonna be at ease when we send our babies there?

Husband annoyed at our toddler for making a mess

My husband works and I’m a SAHM, and he was working from home today. Our 2-year-old was whinging and didn’t want to go out, even though I asked her so many times. So she was playing in the living room, and obviously it was a mess, toys all over the floor and some papers because she was drawing.

Then my husband came in and started telling our daughter off for whinging and telling her to be nice to me. He was also complaining about the living room being messy. Like, really?! We have a toddler! What is that attitude?!

I’m honestly so annoyed. And I was cooking while my toddler was playing, btw, and now I’m not even going to cook anymore.

Baby food pouches

Anyone using baby food pouches? I'm just wondering how bad they are as I had googled and it says it's not advisable to use these regularly. I find blending a small amount of food after steaming and pan frying them, takes so much effort and time if I do these by myself from scratch.
