Colostrum harvesting

I am starting on Saturday. Has anyone already done it? If so, how long did the first time take/how much were you able to get?
Feels like it's going to be difficult to hand express while holding a syringe

I will say. Its a pain in the backside , I ended up having to get my partner to hold it for me, I still only got a few drops.

Id say take a warm shower before hand and drink a lot of water, make sure youre fully relaxed. Dont rush yourself either

I tried abit with my first daughter, but was impatient and unsuccessful. Just want to say even if you get none it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to successfully breastfeed your child! I am still feeding my daughter and so this time have managed to get a lot, but my supply was already there so can’t compare! X

I started last week and it's been a journey 😅 nothing at all came in the first few days, then I started to have one tiny drop, then a couple of drops the following day. I wasn't even keeping anything at the beginning, because the amount was so small. Today I managed 0.1mls which is the most I've got and I'm happy with the progress 🙌 I try to stay relaxed and if I can't get anything it doesn't matter, it does not predict breastfeeding success, however learning how to express is a good skill to know before baby comes. So I just try to stay positive and think that any drops is a bonus, but I won't stress too much over it 😅

Regarding the syringe, I express with one hand and hold the syringe in the other hand. The drops I get are really tiny and thick, so they slide into the syringe quite easily. Your partner can help too, but personally I haven't felt the need for him to help yet, I feel more relaxed on my own cause I can take my time without worrying 😅

It took me 16 attempts to get one drop. Did it about 4-5 times a day from 36 weeks. Ended up with 90 ml. But spend a lot of hours on it. My son used it all in the first few days after birth because i had gestational diabetes and it helped with his blood sugars.

I've done two sessions now and have 3x 1ml syringes. I've done it at the end of my bath, so had a nice long relaxing bath reading and practicing my hypnobirthing breathing, and then I do a massage on my boobs, like a flat palm or a fist starting near the collarbone and slowly but firmly sliding down in different directions for a few minutes on each to stimulation production. Then I stay in the bath sat up (I'm lazy and don't want to get cold doing it out the bath 😆) and managed 1ml the first time in about 40 minutes, last night I got 2ml in 30 minutes. Every tiny drop that appeared I got and it soon adds up.

So we are moving

So my husband and I are moving from an 3 bedroom 1 &1/2 bath apartment to a 5 bedroom 1bath house.
Well there is 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bedrooms down stairs with 1 bathroom. The house is kinda small. We have to cool with window units and heat by gas but the upstairs doesn’t have a heat source I have 2 boys and 2 girls this house would give them their own rooms but my husband is so negative. He wants them sharing rooms. But yet I’m home 24/7 with the kids he works night shift and I feel like I don’t get a say.

Also I want to get rid of my daughter’s bunk bed and get them separate beds and he doesn’t want to do that.

We are currently in our 3 bed and my kids are all in separate rooms. My youngest is in our bed my oldest daughter is in her bed and my boys are separated ones in their room the other is in the living room.

My kids are ages 9,8,7,5 I feel like my boys need their own room my daughters need to be separated also they fight constantly

Am I in the wrong for being upset

Baby slept through…

So it’s 6.35am and baby has slept through the night so obviously I have been waking every 30 mins panicking that somethings wrong and now wondering if I should wake him up. 🤣

He is EBF so my boobs are massive and leaking everywhere but yet the little prince keeps on sleeping. 😴

I really want to go back to sleep but I just know he will wake up the second I get comfy and start to drift off. 😩

Bloody kids!! 🤷🏼‍♀️🙈

Leaking overnight

Any nappy recs advice for nappy leaks at night? My 7 month old has just started consistently leaking, I’ve sized up in nappies and tried Aldi and rascals but no luck.

Has anyone had better results with pull ups? He’s just big enough now I think but I wasn’t sure if Aldi pull ups are any good?

Don’t know what to do

My 8 week old is still waking every 3 hours for milk. She strains, grunts and wriggles all night long. Its so loud that I am awake all night. I’ve tried infacol, dentinox, colief. We have changed her formula a week ago. She’s been to an osteopath (who said she was the calmest baby she’d ever seen 🙄) i’m at my wits end. I’m exhausted.

Does this get better?

My baby has just turned three months and he’s gone back to sleeping like he’s a newborn, so unsettled all night especially after his first stretch.
He was doing 6/7 hour stretches consistently and now it’s like he’s completely forgotten how to link his sleep cycles.
Does this get better or is this how sleep will be now?
