My little one will be 3 in May and I have enrolled her to start preschool in August. They have a hard rule to be potty trained and independent by school. Is this possible? My girl will go occasionally on the toilet when I ask her. And we cheer and reward for doing it. But it’s like she knows it’s a “grown up” thing to do and she wants to stay a “baby”. I know she will love preschool so she can play with other kids and make new friends, so I would hate to see her not ready by then. Has anyone gone through that stage where your baby wants to just stay baby? Not sure how to phrase that.

I went through the same thing. From experience you’ll have to go absolutely cold turkey with diapers and pulls ups if you want her to get there. Pulls up for bedtime is okay but form wake up to bedtime only undies or naked at home. And sit her on the toliet every 30 minutes. You can buy a series of prizes that she can earn. 5 stickers for going potty gets a tiny prize. 10 gets a bigger one etc etc. and line the prizes up where she can see when going potty for motivation. Make sure to bring a little potty in the car when going out and sit her on a public toilet first thing when you get to stores. It’s hard but doable.

We potty train at our daycare/preschool. We have one kiddo in early preschool who is basically potty trained at this point and about to head of to the regular preschool room. The majority of our regular preschool room is potty trained. Some still do pull ups at nap. Almost everyone still had an accident here or there. Some more than others (the amount of malicious accidents we get is obnoxious. And by that I just mean on purpose. Either to stay awake and keep getting up from nap or more recently to change clothes for specific character underwear) we start standing changes in the toddler room and really only do a change on the changing table if it’s poopy. And we start having kids sit on the potty usually around 2. Often when they can start telling us they have a soiled diaper.
