I’m due in June with my first baby, we started saving money before I found out I was pregnant and have continued to save money however, as we’ve needed to buy lots of baby stuff, decorate her room etc, we’ve not been saving no where near as much so obviously our total amount of savings hasn’t been going up as much as we like.
We’ve just had our renewal for some bills like council tax (which has gone up) etc. I just feel really deflated and thinking how on earth are we going to survive when I’m on maternity pay 😕
I know everything will be okay but it’s just really got to me today.
Did anyone else feel like this? Was there any help or things you did to make it easier?

We had no savings & my partner suffered a mh dip so was on benefits around the time my daughter was born. My parents have been a big help but honestly... Babies do not need to cost loads. So many things arent particularly useful, and I recommend getting as much 2nd hand as possible, especially clothes etc.
Are you formula feeding or planning to breastfeed?

Very normal to feel this way! It’s daunting but you’ll get through it. after baby is born you can register to receive child benefit, if you meet the criteria, it’s an extra £100 or so every 4 weeks. I also sold lots of outgrown baby clothes and some of my clothes on Vinted to make some extra cash for coffees and little trips out which made a difference!
