8 week immunisations

They dont always have a fever or have a bad time. My son is 2,5 and had lots of shots and he never got a fever or was fussy or anything.
Yes, prepare, (meds, clear your day,etc) but keep positive and I hope it goes well for both of you!

We didn't have any issues with fevers. He did sleep a little longer during naps the next few days, but other than that he was fine.
We did have Tylenol on hand, but never used it. Hopefully you have the same outcome!

Just give extra cuddles afterwards!

I wouldn’t give anything beforehand, in case there were any negative drug interactions. Mines had a different reaction every time, but the first ones were ok, just lots of tears at first, so lots of cuddles and kisses after.

Keep your routine usual and if they do get a fever, you can make their clothing lighter but you don't want them to get a chill. My son's temp got to 103⁰F (39.4 C) on the first night and he had a fever for two days after infections. We gave Calprol (if that's acetominophen) every 4 hrs if needed

You’re overthinking it girl. Give medicine if they get a fever. Mine just had hers last week (5 of them) and she didn’t get a fever. She slept basically the whole rest of the day and was back to normal the next day.

Calpol should be given afterwards, not before.

Fever should go down with Calpol. Just keep an eye on temperature and on top of the doses.

i give tylenol right afterwards when we get back to the car. i didn’t once and my daughter woke up inconsolable. never skipping the tylenol again😅

The nurse will advise calpol 3 times post jabs every 4-6 hours. This will help keep fever at bay. Don't give anything beforehand but do bring it with you to give soon after you leave the room.

If walking to appointment, use carrier so soon after he can cuddle on you and feel safe. Make sure to feed before the appointment or feed straight after.

What no one told me was how much you as mum cry too. I cried more than him from just seeing him in pain. Since then I've never gone alone. Bring a toy to distract him in case the nurse doesn't have one. One that makes noise.

Lots of cuddles and if you breastfeed, lots of that too when you home. Baby will be sleepy and maybe a little moody.

Have cooked food, snacks ready for you at home as you won't have time to cook or be prepared to order out or grab something to eat on the way home. You also relax and enjoy cuddles with bubs.

We just had ours last Monday and the only other thing I would say is that our baby cried a lot when being changed or laying on his side (especially a couple hours after the jabs).

The thing that we found would soothe him was to put a cold compress on his injection sites (we used an ice pack wrapped in a towel, but a cold wash cloth also works).

I would definitely recommend trying this reasonably soon after getting home. Alternating between legs also prevents it from getting too cold 😊

My son had his first lot a couple of weeks ago and the comment that says about you crying with them is very true, they will do a cry they've not done before and you'll want to kick the living daylight out of the person giving the injection but it must be done. Your baby may not breathe for around 5 seconds because they're crying so hard and it will feel like the longest 5 seconds of your life, just cuddle and kiss him lots and lots immediately after.
My LB had a temp about 5 hours later so I had him just in his nappy for 20 minutes but that didn't help much so I then gave him calpol. He was fussy for the following 3 days and then was okay.
