My baby is 9 months old and I was told a while back that the sleep should always start in there back, is this true and why?
My baby always wants to front sleep now and I’m fighting every night to get the sleep to start on his back or side

If he can roll both ways, then it's fine to leave them to sleep on their front

You should put him on his back every time but if he wants to roll and can roll back then you can let him. Laying on their back flat means their airways are open and not restricted but at 9 months old he should be fine to move himself if he’s not in a comfortable position

Hi! My baby is also 9 months. I was told by my pediatrician that once she is able to roll back to front front to back, it doesnt matter which way she sleeps first in. because at this point she can roll out of it if needed.

I'd always put my son down on his back and he rolled onto his front before I'd left the room. As long as they can roll both ways then it should be fine. Feom about 6 months through to a couple of weeks ago my son slept on his front (on his knees with his bum in the air).
