Do they check your cervix? I’ve heard that it might happen but people that have told me haven’t had a baby for many years so unsure what to expect! What usually happens at the 38 week apt?

No not as standard and I wouldn’t recommend it it’s an infection risk.
It’s usually just the standard urine/BP/co2 etc x

Not usually til 40 weeks unless you're having pains or complications. I've never had it checked before 40 weeks due to infection risk.

No

You can request to have a sweep from 38 weeks. Which then they should be able to tell you what's going on with your cervix anyway? For example if dilation has started or not.. There is a risk of infection yeah, but its also a method of 'induction'.
Personally for me I'd be happy for the midwife to check my cervix.. that's how they find out if you're dialating etc x

Just standard app at 38 weeks and may ask again about birth preferences.
I have booked in my first sweep at 39 weeks

No

No well they didn't at my appointment yesterday.
Just did all the standard checks.
My midwife discussed having the option for a sweep when I next go in at 40+3 assuming the baby hasn't already arrived.
