Ftm 31 weeks pregnant advice please 🫶🏻

I’m so excited and trying to get organised but not sure if I’m rushing. All advice welcome❤️

1. I’m having an elective c section what after care bits were actually helpful? Are the silicone patches worth it when did you start using and what brand is best? Was a peri bottle still necessary for cleaning the downstairs area or not?

2. Maternity bras. What ones would you recommend and also when did you get them I was thinking of getting them pretty soon but also not sure if they’ll fit by the time I need them or did you just size up or waited till closer to the time?

3. When did you start washing baby clothes and packing hospital bag? I pretty much have everything we need already so I could pack now I just don’t know if I should wait. Same with washing babies clothes etc I plan on washing all newborn and 0-3 months initially then bigger sizes closer to when she’ll actually need them but I still have 8 weeks how early did you start washing clothes and organising drawers etc?

1. i never used the silicone patches or peri bottle. bought the bottle but it just wasn't useful for me. i found maneuvering the bottle harder than just wiping. equally, just kept the dressing on as long as i was told then kept the area dry which is the main thing that could cause infection. pat dry and air out after a shower or any time you sweat (only did this every few days as needed). my scar healed great.

2. your breasts will be close enough by now to get the maternity bras. i got mine earlier and they still worked. best ones for me have been boux avenue and momcozy. just make sure you remeasure yourself and compare sister sizes as your 'true' size might be hard to find but will be basically interchangeable with sister sizes.

3. a month before in both cases but i should've packed the hospital bag sooner because baby came at 37+1. we were done washing clothes but not packing the bag. it's never too early for the bag and you'll feel better knowing it's done, but you don't want clothes getting musty

I was recommended mepiform silicone patches, and used them but they were really expensive (I wore the same one for a good week or so before changing). That said I was quite happy with how the scar healed and appears etc so if I have another c section I probably would do it again though I'll never know what it would have been like without. I had bought a peri bottle (c section wasn't planned) but I don't think you need it for a c section, I think it's more to prevent stinging if you tear/have an episiotomy when you pee.

We moved out of our house at 34 weeks (building work, wouldn't recommend) so I sorted out all the baby clothes which were from my sister hand-me-downs and hospital bag after we moved but no harm in getting the basics done before if you have time. I quite enjoy the organising bit so given you're 31w I think any time from now is fine!

Make sure you bring loose, baggy clothing for post c-section. I really struggled with leggings or anything with a tight waistband for weeks and found pj's or cotton trousers best. Never used silicone patches or steri-bottles. The m&s maternity bra's are great but I would size up slightly or hold off. You may end up very engorged and needing a larger size. Pack your hospital bag as early as possible- you never know!

I washed all the clothes in my second trimester and I'm glad it was done so I could rest once I was on maternity, I don't think I'd have had the energy to be doing loads of washing and putting it all away!
I only packed my bags properly like maybe a month before but I had a list and had been putting bits in as I got them so everything was in one place just in case and it meant it wasn't too much effort finishing off cause I knew where everything was and what I had left to pack.
Didn't get my bras until like after 36 weeks I don't think, they were one of the last things I had to put in my bag and I wish I'd got slightly bigger/more stretchy ones, they were super uncomfortable at the start when my milk came in

Nursery settling in period

My LB has been settling into nursery this week and is doing amazing. Only cried once when we re-entered - can't lie I felt a bit betrayed having been on mat leave with him for 11.5 months but I digressed. Anyway for the last two three days he's been waking up 6am instead of 6.30am. Is this normal? Also they only do one nap at nursery at midday. He still has two naps as if he's awake for too long he becomes really fussy and whiny until he goes to sleep so I'm worried how they will transition him to one nap. Also, his nap is just before the time he needs to be nursery each day for settling in between 9.30/10am. Oh and for the first time ever he refused his bedtime bottle last night. Would love to hear your experiences and advice please.

Help!

My daughter was a late walker at nearly 20 months but this one is determined to climb, cruise, move at not even 9 months. Any tips on helping him move around safely when I’ve got him and his sister (3) to watch?

I need a bit of solidarity or some tips because I’m TIRED 😂🫩🥴🤪

Baby boy is 4.5 months, 5 months next week and for the past 2-3 weeks we’ve suddenly been waking up every 2 hours through the night. Sometimes he wakes because he wants feeding, other times he just wakes up crying and needs resettling. It’s not gas.

What used to work for my husband doesn’t seem to work anymore either, so most of the time I have to get up, pick him up, cuddle him and sometimes feed him to get him back down. He’ll wake up every 2 hours like clockwork and I’m honestly exhausted.

During the day he’s grand. He’s a regular short napper but he’s happy, smiley, smart and great kid, so I really don’t want to complain because I know these phases pass and I know he’s a blessing. But I am definitely sleep deprived and tired at the moment and I think I just needed to acknowledge that too 😂

Did anyone else have this around 4-5 months? Did it eventually settle on its own? Any tips for getting through it or helping them resettle without needing me every single time? Mostly just looking for solidarity from other tired mums

Help baby pass gas or burp

Our daughter has been having bad gas and has colic. When we feed we take breaks to burp her and try everything to help relieve the gas. We have done research and all the techniques to help relieve it. She gets the gas out sometimes but other times her belly is so hard I feel bad and start crying. Any help or techniques that work for you much appreciated!
