MIL not listening

Just looking for a bit of advice. I'm really lucky to have a "village" and once a week my MIL watches the baby (10 wk), so I can shop/nip to the gym etc. The only problem is she doesnt feed her. Ill have expressed ready to go or formula as back up but she never feeds her.
My LO tends to cluster feed a little on a morning as shes a decent night sleeper, but only really cries at desperation - she puts her hand in her mouth or grunts as early warnings. Ive told MIL this, and asked her to feed when she sees it. Ive tried saying "she was fed 30 mins ago, she'll want another in half hour", but she never does.
Yesterday I explained shed been really hungry and hadnt expressed much as shed fed so much I hadnt had chance, said to give her a little formula as she'll want it in about 45 mins. I got home 3 hours later and asked how much shed eaten.
"Oh, nothing, she had a little cry but we distracted and she went to sleep. She'll probably be starving when she wakes up".
She was starving. And then had both sides (which she doesnt normally do) and ended up more refluxy and messed up her timings all night, so she woke up more through the night (not ideal as we have an event today).
I dont wanna fall out as I'm grateful for the help but I'm running out of things to try. My husband is on my side and wants to tell her not to come if she just wants her "to sleep" and not actually look after her. Any advice??

Just to edit for clarity - I dont mean "dangerously starving", just that shed reached crying point when she woke up so fed more than usual to make up for it. Shes with MIL max 3 hours alone (and my husband is WFH when shes here but usually in meetings)

I don't "need" her to do the things out the house, as my own parents are around several times a week - but my MIL will only visit if shes useful. My husband has a small family and this is the only way I can involve them. She drives 1hr each way to "help".

MIL is diagnosed on spectrum which i think is making some of the communication harder. (Using MIL for convenience. Shes step mum, as husbands mum died before we met and hes an only child with no cousins. Step mum has 2 sons who are adults now)

I would agree with your husband, girl. Thats your child. Not MILs

Ask her- why won’t you feed my child? And then… If you won’t feed her as I’ve asked you won’t be able to look after her anymore.

I totally get being grateful for her helping you. What I don’t understand is why she won’t feed your baby? I would ask why, or have your husband ask. If she won’t… then maybe just say I’m skipping the gym for a while so I won’t be needing you…. But thank you. Idk… bc I wouldn’t want her to watch her either, and I get not wanting to cause a fall out. That’s rough. It just doesn’t make sense why she wouldn’t feed her? That’s neglectful I feel like. Poor baby was starving. They can’t communicate yet, so why she’s not trusting you on her cues is wild to me. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

It seems like you’ve asked her multiple times to feed your baby at this point I’d just tell her she’s not welcome around since she keeps neglecting your baby

I agree with your husband. I know it’s nice having help and getting a break but her refusing to feed her and just having her sleep is not actually watching her or even taking care of her

It’s really hard when they don’t listen, I had the same thing except without my partner being as on the same page. It used to infuriate me that baby would come home hungry and with the routine totally out of the window. Tbh I stopped letting mil look after him much because although I had a break for 2 hours it actually just made the rest of the day and night hard work for me

Why tho?? Have you adked her why she doesn't feed the baby?? Whatever her reason it's hers and it's valid to her.
I'd say stop forcing her to babysit if you don't agree with her ways. So long as she is a good gma and she can still see her grandchild freely I see no reason why she should be expected to watch bub alone if you're not comfortable. Make alternative arrangements.

I had this sort of issue with my MIL and diaper changes. They watched him for 4 hours and NEVER changed it, it was busting when we got home.
Then happened 3 more times. I finally just blatantly asked her.
She very rudely admitted
“Well Karl doesn’t do diapers (FIL, who is a sweetheart and would gladly do it) you’re so specific about how you do it! I didn’t want to mess up, it’s been 25 years. Maybe someone could show me how again! Then I’ll be better at helping how you expect”
My response was I would have expected you to ask if you didn’t know instead of leaving your grandson with diaper rashes he never has.

(&By specific? She just meant that I was taught a NICU nurse so I was fast. I literally hardly even use diaper cream, because I’m on top of his changes though.)

Anyway, moral of my story is just ask her why she refuses to care for the baby properly when she’s with her when even blatantly directed a timeframe and how to.

I totally understand. Sorry I didn't mean to use force i meant to use "asking" .
But if it's interfering with bubs health and wellbeing then you have to tackle it head on yk. No ifs or buts. Ask hubby to talk to her..if not possible you have a gentle chat w her if not working then you'll have to stop the visits till bub is older or something.... maybe y'all go together for visit ... just be gentle while tackling it. Owise I wouldn't leave bub with her if they won't atleast do what you want which is a very simple ask. And since you said she does feed if you give the bottle then do just that !!! Work around it as it's not that urgent as you have mentioned. If bib is fully full when she arrives they can Def stay 3 hours till you return even if they get abit hungry.

Aaww hope so. But I don't think asking her to do housework is the right thing tho lol. I think y'all just need to hang out with her 🤷🏾‍♀️😅 maybe go shopping then lunch with her idk lol. Unless she's OK doing housework lol. I think doing things with her is better than specific things. Hopefully it goes smoothly.

Oh ok. Phew lol. Yes that's a good idea then pop in with the feed lol.

Honey, the well-being of your baby is far more important than your feelings or you wanting to keep the peace so your husband doesn't lose what little family he has. I know you said she's not being "dangerously starved" but it doesn't matter! It's still extremely messed up to ignore a baby's hunger cues to the point that they wake up crying! Especially a newborn (a baby is considered a newborn when they're under 3 months old) And the audacity for her to think she knows better than nurses and refusal to give you your baby. WTF!? I would have been pissed. Being on the spectrum is no excuse!

Crazy hair tips

My little boy (white/black Caribbean) has almost two hair textures, he has quite loose soft curls at the front but then an almost Afro texture in the back which goes wild. I use the only curls products for kids (shampoo, conditioner, detangle spray and styler) but after he sleeps it just goes crazy. It’s super knotty at the back so he doesn’t tolerate any brushing/combing - I only just manage with a fight when it’s wet.

Any tips on handling the back section? Heavy products don’t seem to work well given how soft it is in the front.

Refusing nap at age2 help!

My little one is 2y 2m old. She has just all of a sudden stopped napping. Nursery told me they spend half hour with her and she won't sleep and same at home. I'm really worried nursery will stop trying. But she just will not settle down at all all of a sudden. Help please. It's way too early for her to drop the nap!

14 w/o slept for 15 hrs?

She’s 14 weeks. Yesterday we decided to try putting her to bed at 8pm (she usually just comes with us at around 10/11). So we bathed, boobed and transferred to bed by 8. We kept the room dark and she slept there for an hour before waking up. I then took her back with me but she continued sleeping until 11. Woke up at 11, had her nappy changed. All happy as can be. Then slept until 3. Breastfed. Nappy changed at 5. Breastfed. Slept until 7, breastfed. Still asleep now at 11am?

Is this normal? She’s still having wet nappies, feeding, etc. should I wake her? She started trying to roll to her front yesterday, so idk if she’s just tired from the workout 😅

CMPA? (Photo)

My baby is really congested overnight. She’s always congested - but particularly more snorty after a bottle of Kendamil. She’s primarily breast fed with one bottle of formula a day in the afternoon. Her poops are also explosive and look like this. Does this look like CMPA, so sorry for the photo! Two first poops from two different mornings. Will add the second to the comments.

Travelling with a 1 year old

Can I put a car seat in the front passenger seat for travelling with my baby?! He hates the car and just cries if he’s in the back by himself. I have family 4 hours drive away and I have to do the travel alone most of the time. It’s so stressful and exhausting trying to entertain him and I can’t just let him cry. How do you travel with a baby who hates the car? 😩

Trike 1 year old winter

It’s my daughter birthday next week and I was thinking about getting her a trike I really like the little Dutch one but then I’m thinking would I actually use it because it’s nearly winter so she’ll be in her pram a lot with foot muff and we don’t seem to go out a lot in pram whilst she’s awake.

Opinions if you’ve got one do you use it or waste of money?
