Her latest obsession is trying to drink the bath water, Iāve had to remove all scooping toys/jugs/watering cans from the bath that she used to play with cause she uses them to scoop water into her mouth to drink but by removing those things she literally leans her head to the water and starts drinking it. Itās making me š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢ and feels so unsafe thatās sheās putting her face in the water. Is this a phase, how do I stop her from doing it? Am I best leaving the scoop toys in there for her to drink from as this seems safer? Send help, she is absolutely not thirsty fyi, she has a drink before and after the bath š«

Absolutely in the same boat! Scoops it in his hands or sucks the flannel if I take the toys away š¤¦āāļøhe gets hiccups after and has been sick a couple of times, hoping he gets bored!

My son has done this for as long as I can remember probably since about 12m old, I took away scooping toys too and he did the same just sucks it out the bath. He doesnāt do it every bath time now though only occasionally⦠I have no idea why but theyāll definitely grow out of it. He also rubs his hand on his head when Iām shampooing it and then puts it on his mouth and licks it ššš Theyāre just weirdos!! It wonāt harm them just have to keep explaining that itās dirty water and to not do it x

I think this is normal - at least both of mine have gone through this phase š
Honestly I just donāt make a big deal out of it. I will gently discourage it - if she is drinking from something Iāll take it off her and show her how to pour from one thing to another, or some other āuseā for it, as a distraction technique. But I donāt acknowledge the drinking part haha. As with most things, if they get a reaction from you for doing something (even a negative reaction), they will keep doing it.
From my understanding, whilst itās not good, itās also probably not gonna do any harm. Anything in the water you might be worried about is really diluted.
