Amniotic Fluid Index

Hi guys, I just had a 32 week scan to see if my placenta has moved as needed. She did measurements etc whilst I was there and my fluid is sitting above the usual charts. She said before I left that I’ve got more fluid but not a concerning amount more, she just said when my waters go they will go 😂 but I hadn’t seen the chart at the point. She wasn’t concerned at all but wondering whether anyone else has had this?

Have you been checked for gestational diabetes, I have extra amniotic fluid / polyhydramnios due to the GD

Avatar

Anything over 24 (some hospitals use 25) is mild polyhydramnois.

Mine at my last scan was 29.

I don’t have GD but do have a big baby. Most cases of poly are ideopathic (no known cause).

If they were concerned they’d have referred for further tests x

Coincidentally I’ve also just had a 32 week scan and had the same results come back ( although my amniotic fluid is slightly higher at 25.5 mark). I’ve been booked in for a (third!!) GD test ( previous 2 were totally normal) but also they’ve sent off bloods & urine to check for UTI or viruses so waiting to hear back on those. They said can take up to a week which is an annoyingly long time to wait 🙄
I have noticed recently an increase pelvic pain/pressure, needing to wee more, feeling a bit under the weather & more discharge so I’m almost convinced it’s the latter ( a UTI) but waiting for the tests to come back.
So anxiety-inducing 😖
If you’re worried, I would push for the same above checks. You’re well within your right to request them to make sure you’re ruling everything out.
Although one thing midwife did say to reassure is that I think this can be quite common - amniotic fluids can rise and then sort themselves out within a week or two , so fingers crossed that’ll happen !

Your water levels are still within normal so don't worry, that's why they're not worried.

I had on the higher side of water with my first and my waters broke Hollywood style 3 times. I basically redecorated our living room in amniotic fluid 🫠😂 ended up squatting over a mop bucket after the 3 massive gush and still filled the bucket by half by the time it stopped leaking 🫠🫠 baby is just having a good old swim! Xx

What age are you giving chocolate from and how often??

No judgement, I’m genuinely confused. I worry about sugar intake etc as grandparents both side have diabetes however I also know can’t cut it out completely or may overdo it when older. Wondering what age everyone began with chocolate etc

Is it normal pain or something more?

I’m not really sure where to post this but figured there might be someone here that could shed some light.

I am 23 weeks tomorrow, so far a normal pregnancy, a couple of times I’ve had some light spotting but each time I’ve been checked out and everything is fine! I have had a previous c-section and have been told I have a low-lying placenta so am waiting for another scan to check it isn’t growing into my scar tissue.

The last few days I have had such bad pain, it is worse when I move but comes and goes with the more I am doing. It is primarily in between my shoulder blades, just below my ribs and across the middle of my tummy (in line with my belly button), I also get it in the lower part of my tummy, mainly on the right side. It feels like a severe stitch.

I went to triage last week for spotting and don’t want to rush back there if it’s something that is normal. Any ideas? 🩵

Honest truth about C sections

I am a first time mother having an elective c section. I’ve been told that it’s a shame I am doing an elective as thank God my baby is healthy. I need to know is a C section better than a birth? If you have had both please share your experience below !

Two parties on the same day, WWYD?

Our DS was invited to his nursery best friend's birthday party one month in advance, we immediately confirmed. The party is 2 to 4pm.

About a week later we got another party invite from some long time friends. The party is the same day but from 12 to 2pm on the opposite side of the city, so it will take a 40 minute drive to get from one to the other. This child used to be best friend but they haven't been available to meet for the last year, so I was thinking about skipping this party. However, my child keeps asking about them and it is possible for us to attend, just complicated. So thought I would go and leave early (stay for hour and a half instead of 2 hrs) and go to the other party around 10 mins late.

Is it too rude to leave the first party early? We are staying for most of it. Or is it better no just not go?

What would you do?

To Induce or Not To Induce?

Still waiting on my little boy whose EDD was 15th of March.

I'm now 42+1 and the pressure is starting to build to Induce. I have been planning for a home birth so really would rather avoid if possible but now considering inducing at the end of the week or just opting for elective C Section.

Pregnancy has been super straightforward for me, no sickness or issues at all so feels a shame to need to Induce or C-Sec now!

Still feeling well in myself and movements are good. Not really having any signs of labour besides loose poops for a couple of weeks and a couple of nights with intermittent cramping (after I'd probably overdone it a bit in the garden).

I hear so many horror stories for inducing hence considering the elective! Does anyone have any positive stories or can make me feel a bit braver about hanging on!
