Breastfeeding popularity

Absolutely zero judgement here, but I’m curious how many people actually breastfeed? I exclusively breastfed my first for a year and currently 9.5 months in with my second. Out of the 11 babies in my friend group my 2 are the only ones breastfed past 3 months.

I’ll continue until my baby self weans, even if that means tandem feeding with a younger sibling

I breastfed each of my kids to 18 months. In my friend group breastfeeding and usually extended breastfeeding past a year has been the norm. I know all types of people who did or didn’t breastfed for all types of reasons.

Breastfed my eldest till 18mo, still feeding my youngest, who was 2 in Jan.

Breastfed for 3 years. Only have 3 friends with children and I think our postpartum experiences heavily affected which of us breastfed and for how long.
My best friend nursed her daughter for 2 years and we are equally as proud of each other

Combo fed one year, nursed til 2 years and 7 months

Breastfed for 25 months and only stopped as I was pregnant again and my milk dried up and I found dry nursing unbearably painful. Will breastfeed my second until he self weans x

I breastfed my 1st until 19 months. I plan on breastfeeding my second as long as i can mentally handle

I ebf for 4 weeks (i know - not long), however was hospitalised at 4 weeks pp with mastitis and sepsis, with a blockage so had to introduce formula. Was very out of it for 4 days. Milk supply dropped massively so had to combi feed. Eventually milk dried out at 4 months so had to fully formula feed. Would have gone much longer if I could. X

i pumped for 4.5 months as baby wouldn’t bf, he refused to eat at 1 day old. So was combi feed. Then he got ill and refused my milk, he was too poorly for me to pump and my milk supply dropped. As he kept refusing it seemed silly to keep pumping to throw it away. I was gutted as wanted to get to at least 6 months x

Going nearly 15 months strong here. In my friend’s circle, only 1 mother formula fed but that was after 6 months. The other 5, not including myself, have breastfed for at least a year

i didn’t produce anything until my son was 3 days old, so he was much more comfortable with a bottle than my breast. i tried pumping but definitely did something wrong, ended up with 2 lumps in my armpit??? and very sore boobs and i just thought no not a bit of me. he’d had no issues with the formula so i thought i’d just carry him on with it. if i have another baby one day i want to do more research/attend classes on breastfeeding so i can give it another go

I breastfed mine until she weaned off, it was 13 months

I breastfed my first until just over 2 years. I would have gone longer, but it was a sensory nightmare while pregnant with my second. I hope to go at least 2 years with her as well. She doesn't seem to like nursing as much as he did though so she may self-wean eventually

Bf my first till she was 2.5 years and still feeding my second at 16 months. But I don’t know many people IRL who breastfeed.

I wanted to go to a yr but it just didn't work out for us so I stopped at 7m

I put 6 months but really my son self weaned at 9 months and seems like my daughter is following suit eventhough my mama heart isn't ready 💔

1 year with my first and 6 months with my 2nd. He relentlessly would bite my nipples and I was suffering from DMER so I unfortunately didn’t really have a choice.

Do you wash your hands after changing a nappy?

I've been to quite a few baby groups where I've noticed a lot of her mums don't wash their hands after they change their baby. they just change them in the room and then carry on with the class. Personally, I find it gross and the same as going to the toilet without washing your hands. I wondered whatever everyone else thought.

Am I too secretive?

So hear me out, I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant 2 weeks ago. My husband excited, I was excited. Now we lost a baby in the past. 1 stillbirth and 1 miscarriage. So I feel like I don’t want to share with any family or outsiders that I’m pregnant because of all the negativity and I want to feel more secure in my pregnancy before I discuss anything. We also have been having issues in our marriage with him being in an emotionally enmeshed relationship with his mother and having stability issues. So we been working on trying to attain this house and a new car and have a better grip on our finances. My husband and I discussed keeping the pregnancy, the house and the car between us until things manifest. I’m big on letting life build and manifest before we go telling people. His mother and me are also not cool. She hasn’t been a fan of me from the very beginning of our relationship. Again she wants him as her 2nd husband, (if you understand emotional enmeshing and triangulation, this has been her relationship with my husband) she also thinks she is this big prophetess woman who has dreams and God tells her everything. She has been avoidant towards me and has been hoping our relationship ends. We have a five year old daughter together and a 19 month old son. So why would she want the relationship to end is beyond me, except so that she can pretend she had a dream about it and that she predicted this to his family. ANYWAY fast forward I started having cramps last week and have been bleeding for 8 days. More than likely I had a miscarriage or chemical pregnancy because I know the baby haven’t had a heartbeat yet (my doctors appointment is next week) Now again we agreed to keep this all private until things manifest. So his mom going through her own divorce and issues and she been blowing up my husband phone for days. Now when he talks to his mom he gets so wrapped in her world and her emotions and then thinks she is so wise, so he said to me he was going to learn how to be more responsible and grow as a man. Of course he gets tied into her web again, talks to her, gets to drinking and tells her all of our plans about the house, the car, the pregnancy , our conversations about divorce, all our marital issues! And his mom loves to gossip and laugh at our situation. I found out he told her all this because he was talking to her on the phone today on speaker phone and he like “man we better get this house and the car and blah blah”, and then she was like “now what about the baby?” And he hurried up and took her off of speaker. So when I wanted to talk to him about how I feel like he violated our agreement we had about his relationship with his mother, about our private life until it manifests , about the pregnancy and everything. He said he was like “I don’t be knowing what to talk about with them and f**k it I told everything and that you’re too secretive.” ‼️Now, I don’t feel like I’m secretive, I feel like a husband and wife should live life of their own, have their own private life and share what they want to share when they both agree to. So I feel like he violated our trust and keeps continuing to bring his mother and family into our relationship without my consent, and she is already hoping our marriage ends because hers is ending. Am I being secretive or does husband and wife really keep things between each other and he just violated our trust?

Walking Outside

My 16 month old boy is confident at walking indoors, bare foot, socks or shoes. The moment we encourage him to walk outside, whether it be concrete, tarmac, grass, patio or decking. He will often just stand there, not having the confidence to walk on different terrain unless it's indoors. He will get quite upset if we aren't carrying him, even if we hold his hand, it's like he freezes and will sit down, not even attempting to crawl. Any tips to help build that confidence, or is it a matter of keep trying each day? He has been walking now for around two months. We've tried different shoes, even just socks on. But no luck. Has anyone been in this situation before?

Baby waking up at 6am

Feel like I’m doing something wrong… My baby keeps waking up all the time at 6am or just before that. This is way too early for me… 🫠
Is or was anyone on the same boat as me?
If you were, what did you change for baby to sleep at least until 7-7:30am?
Current bed time is 7:30pm. Had to bring it earlier as he only takes 30min naps during the day (since week 12 and we are 19 now!!) so by the end of the day he is very fussy and impossible to deal with..
thought about putting him for the nap instead of bedtime and then put him sleep late so he wakes up later in the morning but his last nap (around 5-5:30pm) it’s terrible! He fights it like crazy so I guess another one would only be worse.. I think 🤔

He also wakes up at night constantly around 2-3am for a feed. I guess he is hungry because he eats full bottle but he eat quite a lot during the day so I’m surprised he is waking up for food..
