Scan at 40+ weeks, anyone had a later scan?

Hi guys, I’ve got a scan booked in with the NHS to ensure my placenta is working well and baby is okay. For a bit of a back story, on Monday early hours I went to triage as baby wasn’t moving too much. They monitored me, all was well with his movements and heart beat in the end, but ended up seeing a doctor as she wanted to talk about inducing me. I said no to induction, however agreed to a sweep (I think I’ve lost my mucus plug and have been having slight contractions, but nothing major), so have another sweep booked at 41 weeks and induction booked for 41+1 weeks. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had a scan later in pregnancy due to similar circumstances? I’m kinda nervous for this scan out of all the ones I have had previous. I am considered low risk and have been throughout the pregnancy x

I wouldn’t allow them to tell you anything about growth/ size of the baby if they try. I was having serial bi-weekly growth scans for a large baby (predicted 10lb 4oz at 37+5 yesterday) and they said another scan at 39+5 is an absolute waste of time that late on.

In terms of the placenta they can check blood flow to the placenta etc. I think your gut feeling really matters here.. do you feel you and baby are well? How are movements now?

Remember sweeps are a form of induction they just don’t sell them as that x

Paediatrician Review

wanted to ask how your baby’s 8-week paediatric review went.
I’m feeling quite concerned about how my baby’s review was handled. We went in for the routine 8-week check, but the doctor seemed to brush off every concern we raised, repeatedly saying “that’s normal.” I understand that some things may indeed be normal, but the approach felt rushed, and the examination didn’t feel thorough or reassuring.
What made this more worrying for me is that I’ve had a similar experience with the same doctor before. About two years ago, when I went in for a leg ulcer, I also had a severe headache that day. When I tried to mention it, he dismissed it and said we should “stick to the problem of today.” That experience left me feeling unheard, and this recent visit brought back those same concerns.
It’s made me wonder—are babies not supposed to be reviewed by a paediatrician? I’m also worried about having the same doctor for future appointments, as I don’t feel confident in the care we received.

Unexpected c -section

I labored for weeks, went into active labor for 20 hours, pushed for 3 hours and failed to have a vaginal birth. They said my pelvis was too small for her big head. I personally think I wasn’t dilated enough and they wanted to rush me. Our bodies are made for birth. If you can afford a doula get one, and spend the last few weeks stretching, drinking okra water, and having sex!

I didn’t feel anything while in surgery, and my scar is really small. Healing the first couple weeks was brutal, but you get through it. Ask for help! Prepare meals, order meals, or have someone cook for you. It’s been 3 months and the scar is hardly noticeable! Baby is healthy, and happy❤️ that’s all that matters!

Midwive demeanour

Please I hope that know one takes this as a dig at the profession. Like all jobs there's good and bad staff.

I've been to my 2nd midwife appointment this week and she was incredibly cold, borderline miserable and I left with raised anxiety and felt that this was going to be an interesting few months.

This is my second, my first time round midwives were mixed but the initial visits never this way.

I can't change as i live rurally with very low birth rate and so this is it.

I'm guessing how can i not let it affect me so much, or maybe is this just the way the profession is and the Call the Midwive days are long gone 😅😢

Gestational diabetes makes no sense

Ngl, as someone who trained and worked the medical field (was a paramedic) you'd think it all makes sense but nope, none, nothing, I'm mind blown. Super hungry last night, made tacos, I ate 4! I know awful but you know what, tested 5.0mmol... over 13 hours since I last ate, had a piece of toast and a pear, please tell me why, I got 9.0mmol!! My fasting reading was 5.4mmol (daily result for me) I am absolutely mind blown, given up trying to understand it, wake me up when its the 10th of June please 😂
