Elective section before 39 weeks?

I've got elective section booked for 39+3, they won't do it any earlier because they don't do them before 39 weeks. They don't do them on weekends or certain days of the week apparently which is why earliest I can have is 39+3. I'm terrified of going into natural labour. Is this the same in most hospitals?

I think that's standard. Mine was 39+3 too. They'll only book them before 39 weeks for high risk cases. You can still have a c section if you go into natural labour..

I was booked for 39+3 for my first baby but I went into labour at 38+2. Totally fine though, I was given an emergency slot that day and it was done without issue.

Second baby I was booked for week 38 to avoid that again but had it rescheduled for week 37 due to ICP.

They keep emergency slots in the theatre diaries all day for mums who need it, whether that’s mums like us with electives booked and labouring or mums who get into trouble on the wards.

That's standard practice now. They like to wait till the 39th week. I had mine at 39+1, it was originally booked for 39+5 but an early slot became available and because I'd been in for reduced movements and baby was dropping centiles a bit I was offered the earlier slot. Even if you go into labour naturally you can still have a C-section

Unexpected c -section

I labored for weeks, went into active labor for 20 hours, pushed for 3 hours and failed to have a vaginal birth. They said my pelvis was too small for her big head. I personally think I wasn’t dilated enough and they wanted to rush me. Our bodies are made for birth. If you can afford a doula get one, and spend the last few weeks stretching, drinking okra water, and having sex!

I didn’t feel anything while in surgery, and my scar is really small. Healing the first couple weeks was brutal, but you get through it. Ask for help! Prepare meals, order meals, or have someone cook for you. It’s been 3 months and the scar is hardly noticeable! Baby is healthy, and happy❤️ that’s all that matters!

Gestational diabetes makes no sense

Ngl, as someone who trained and worked the medical field (was a paramedic) you'd think it all makes sense but nope, none, nothing, I'm mind blown. Super hungry last night, made tacos, I ate 4! I know awful but you know what, tested 5.0mmol... over 13 hours since I last ate, had a piece of toast and a pear, please tell me why, I got 9.0mmol!! My fasting reading was 5.4mmol (daily result for me) I am absolutely mind blown, given up trying to understand it, wake me up when its the 10th of June please 😂

Midwive demeanour

Please I hope that know one takes this as a dig at the profession. Like all jobs there's good and bad staff.

I've been to my 2nd midwife appointment this week and she was incredibly cold, borderline miserable and I left with raised anxiety and felt that this was going to be an interesting few months.

This is my second, my first time round midwives were mixed but the initial visits never this way.

I can't change as i live rurally with very low birth rate and so this is it.

I'm guessing how can i not let it affect me so much, or maybe is this just the way the profession is and the Call the Midwive days are long gone 😅😢

MRI

I know this is probably going to be a stupid post lol but genuinely just need to know. I have the possibility I could be pregnant but Im only 12dpo and nothing is showing on a test yet. I didn’t get one till later on with my first so my doctors have told me to wait at least a week if I miss my period. Im going for an MRI and don’t know whether to mention it or not because I desperately need one. Will they actually be able to tell on the MRI anyway if they do it? They are looking at my ovaries and my womb so looking at the right place for it. So basically if it doesn’t get mentioned it means Im not right? I know this probably sounds really silly but yeah curious.
