Naming after a grandparent

I really like the name Christopher which is my dad's name, and would like to name my boy after him. What do you think?

Personally I think middle names are great. Still honors the person but gives the child their own identity. Otherwise they can feel they are always living up to someone and when that person passes it can also be even harder.

We use a lot of family names. I love it. I'm named after my grandmother (my husband is also named after his grandfather) and it feels like such a special thing. We're also incredibly close, not just because of the naming (obviously lol) but I do feel like it's just a nice way to honor someone you love.
Also, just because it was mentioned above, I have never felt like I didn't have my own identity just because I share a name with someone nor have I ever felt like I needed to live up to her. Just my personal opinion.

My husband was named after one of his mother’s boyfriend who passed away in a fire.

My first born son is named after my husband.

My boys middle names is after a family member too.

My first has Michael as a middle name after my grandad and this baby will either have Jaqueline after my Nan or Peter after my other grandad

I absolutely love Christopher! I think it’s a gorgeous, strong classic name.

I also love the old fashioned nickname of Kit that Christopher has!

My baby has my mothers name as her middle name. Its maybe not the coolest or most beautiful name . But she passed away when I was a child and it means a lot to me that she is involved somehow with my baby and honoured 😍 when one day my baby will wonder where her middle name came from and I can tell her all about her grandma. I think it’s beautiful and special . I am also named after my grandmas middle name . My brothers first name is after my mums dad . And if you love the name Christopher why not ? 😍😍

Could this be early labour?

Since 10:00am today I’ve been getting period like pains very low down that last about a minute and are around 6-7 mins apart.. my lower back has been really achey for days and I’m pretty sure I lost my mucus plug last week (although there was no blood)
I’m 37+1 today and with my first I was 10 days early and already dilated 2cm. ( ended in a emergency c-section)I’ve never really had braxton hicks but this could be just that? The pain isn’t strong enough to call it a contraction but it’s there if you know what I mean! What do you think? X

For the women who have had a C-Section, how long did you take pain meds for?

Anyone else afraid of storms?

We are currently in the middle of storm Dave and definitey not the worst we've had. UK based here and I'm anxious af rn listening to the raging wind outside. Ever since I was a child I've been afraid of storms, thunder, lightning and freak weather. Snowing in April for example.

I literally lie awake listening to it and fear the damage it could cause. Going to Florida didn't help when catagory red hurricane was forecast to hit Miami. We went out of hurricane season too. Don't even get me started on the volcano that showed activity whilst we was in Bali.

Anyway is it just me or does anyone experience this? It really and I mean really sets me on edge. Particularly the trees for some bizzare reason. Also storm Denis blew half our roof off so there is that 🙈

Doula

Hello! I hired a doula at 5 weeks and I’m currently 31 weeks. I have not really connected with her and I have connected much more with my OBGYN.

I also recently found out she’s a Trump supporter which makes me concerned about her beliefs about women’s right to choose. This seems to be in direct conflict with what I believed Doula’s did (empowered women to be in control of their labors).

Has anyone had concerns about their doula in their third trimester and decided to go without. I have a super supportive husband who is a doctor at the hospital I’m delivering at. I also am hoping that my sister who lives abroad can make the delivery. I feel like with the two of them, I won’t need to doula. I just feel like after all this time with her, it’s strange we are still not comfortable with each other.

I’d love to hear folks thoughts. This is not an invitation to argue about politics. If you are a Trump supporter just keep it moving.

Vaginal or c-section? Where’s your head at?

So many friends have started asking me what I’m thinking about birthing plan and to be honest I’ve not really thought about it (probably should at some point 🫣) A number of friends didn’t have great birthing experiences and ended up with emergency c-sections which got me researching planned ones despite it never previously being something I had considered.

I’m curious to see where other mums-to-be heads are at with this one & thoughts behind it? No judgement here! 🥰
