I’m thinking of a few uncommonly used animal names for a boy (example: Fox, Wolf, Bear, Colt, etc.). I like that it’s distinctive, sporty, and has a big energy. Will it wear well in everyday life as he grows?

I met a lady at baby group last year (UK) who had an older child who had one of the above type names.
Her comment to me was her son was growing into a slight frame and she was worried a short to mid height grown adult son of slim frame didn't fit the name. It wasn't bear but you get the drift if the adult was not of that build. Boys can be cruel on things like that.
Something to consider.

Hmm maybe give him an animal nickname. Like name him Frederick, but call him Fox?

I like them! Fox has definitely gotten more common, and I also like Bear! I’ve seen some alternate spellings used, like Wolfe instead of Wolf, or even Behr instead of Bear, depending on if you want the name spelled like the animal or not 💙

sorry but no those are uncommon for a reason , i cannot imagine someone growing up and being called wolf or fox
