Antibiotics and breast milk.

Has anyone taken antibiotics and noticed that it has affected their breast milk? I have been on antibiotics for a week (4 a day) and every time my baby has breast milk she is immediately sick afterwards and cranky. (This was never an issue before being on antibiotics), so I have been pumping and pouring away my milk (which is soul destroying) until I finish the tablets. She has been having formula instead and isn’t being sick with that at all and seems much more settled.

I had mastitis and was on antibiotics for 7 days but fortunately no changes in my baby's behaviour!
Have you contacted your GP?

I would suggest not taking it. I had really bad mastitis and went to my doctors for the antibiotics and my own black doctor recommended me not to take them as antibiotics also seep into your breast milk and gives your child a poorly tummy au I didn’t take them. She just told me some natural advice which was to get some breast milk and put it on my nipples everyday and within 4 days my nipples had completely healed 🥹. Love doctors like that. It was a random doctor tho the ones when u call 111 and they book u in next day.

I was on antibiotics first week baby was born and again for mastitis at 3/4 weeks old. At that point we were recommended to give him probiotics to help his tummy, it settled it down and stopped him throwing up, we kept them going until 6 months to rebuild his healthy gut

I’ve had multiple courses of antibiotics and baby seemed absolutely fine (she’s 8 weeks now and I’ve had 5 courses for different breast issues) - maybe worth seeking advice from pharmacist though if she’s being sick

I would recommend talking to your GP or a pharmacist. I've had a few rounds of antibiotics since my daughter was born (she's over a year now) and haven't had any issues

5 days old

My baby is 5 days today and I’m struggling with sleep. He will only sleep when he is being cuddled, which I’m aware is expected but I need some sleep too.

Any tips for getting him settled in the next to me cot?

I don’t want to co sleep and he is EBF

Midnight Mum’s Club

Who’s awake? Figure we can keep each other company.

Currently trying to put my 11 day old down. Every time I do she wakes up.
Her brother was never like this 🙈

Coping with baby and illness

How do we cope?

I’m currently SO unwell with a kidney infection that I left a little too late, nothing seems to be helping I’ve never been so ill.

My baby is almost 4 months, I have no village here and my partner can’t come and help as he works full time.

I feel so guilty as I don’t feel like I can play as enthusiastically as I usually do, I’ve barely got the energy to stand 😮‍💨 I’m obviously meeting baby’s needs, she’s clean, happy and well fed but the mum guilt is unreal

Breastfeeding

Hello fellow July moms. I have been exclusively breastfeeding my son since he was born and here in the last 2 or so days he likes to try and bite at my nipple instead of just eat like normal. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what did you do to get your baby to stop I’m kind of desperate because my nipples feel like they are about to fall right off.

Choking on saliva!

So my LO just choked on her saliva twice! But was completely silent why doing so!

I’m just so glad that I was having a night where I can’t sleep and just so happened to be watching her, but I have never been so scared in my life! Is this normal? I now have a fear of going to sleep. She only had her 6-8 week check up today and she’s never done this before.

She’s 7 weeks tomorrow and now I’m panicking she’s going to choke herself in her sleep!

36 weeks sleep!

Hi everyone,

Is anyone else struggling with sleep? Obviously I’m used to waking up every two hours for a wee during pregnancy but the last two nights, I’ve also had achey legs and just feeling so uncomfortable! I also just cannot sleep, even if I do manage to get comfortable! It’s quite triggering for me as I suffered badly with pp insomnia after my first child, so I’m struggling mentally with it. I also have 2 weeks left at work as a teacher and beginning to think I won’t make it that far!
