How to address behaviour issues at nursery.

My 2 year old attends a flying start nursery. He isn’t a child that normally hits (there has obviously been the odd occasion where he has smacked and we’ve explained it’s wrong). We had a lovely 2 weeks Easter holidays and he was so well behaved. It was his first day back today and he came home, kicked me twice, bit me and was spitting 😩 and he threw his shoes across the room. That behaviour just isn’t him and I don’t know if he’s picking it up off another child in nursery. What would be the best way to address it with the nursery?

Sounds like he might just be overstimulated by the change after 2 weeks and taking it out in his safe space (a bit like how younger ones often cry loads on pick up - it’s like a relief response). If nursery haven’t reported him doing those behaviours there - or having them done to him - maybe go back to square one a bit with the process of going to nursery, talking him through routines, and obviously explaining to him that you don’t hit but there are other ways to express feelings; a picture chart maybe if he’s a visual learner?
