How are you getting scans so early?

I’m 6 weeks pregnant today and don’t have my first NHS booking appointment until 8 weeks, with the first scan scheduled for 11 weeks.

I love reading posts in this group, but I’ve noticed some mums are getting scans from as early as 7 weeks (sometimes even earlier!).

It would be really helpful to have more information about these early scans (if you are comfortable sharing!) to help those of us who feel anxious and would like reassurance before the NHS-recommended timings.

Search for private scans in your area, I think the most common ones are window to the womb, ultrasound direct etc, those are the ones near me, they’re expensive though I’ve booked one for 8 weeks as reassurance x

I used Ultrasound Direct in my first pregnancy and have a scan booked with them next week at 7 weeks. They’re not the cheapest but they have qualified sonographers and I found the service to be excellent.

I paid for 2 private scans, which included the NIPT

There are loads of places you can go for private scans. Just bear in mind these aren't fully trained maternity doctors who'll be doing them. They're amazing for the reassurance around is there a baby in there and is there a heartbeat, but as they're not actual doctors if it's bad news then you'd likely want to speak to someone else about that. So it's a risk but in my experience the scans were lovely! We used Window to the Womb.

Used ultrasound direct for all 3 of my previous pregnancies and got an early reassurance scan around 8/9 weeks for each, the early gender reveal scan at 16 weeks for each and the 4D scan at around 28/30 weeks for each. Had great experiences all 3 times

The ultrasound direct I used has now closed though so for our 4th we’ve decided to skip the early scan and wait for the nhs one then get an early gender scan at around 16 weeks (we already think it’s a girl because I did an early gender blood test and it came back girl, did one for all 3 of my boys and they came back boy so I’m hoping it’s gonna have a 100% success rate for us) and the we’ll do a 4D again too but I’ll just have to find another scan place

Both pregnancies as soon as I’ve had a positive test I have 1 scan per week and hcg tested 2x a week to make sure it is rising, and the scans are to make sure baby is there and a heartbeat can detected but this is because of fertility issues and previous loss

I had scans regularly as they saw tiny abnormalities on the scan so had scans every month to keep any eye on them (cysts on his brain , one of the limbs wasn’t developing as fast as the other ) all resolved themselves at 26 week scan through so it all ended up ok

10 week appointment

Hi :) first time mum here :
I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant and have an appointment with a midwife soon at 10 weeks which I was told would involve blood tests. I wasn’t sure if this would include a scan or would I have to wait until 12 weeks?
Thanks :)

Morning people

Those of you who get up early and feel awake and refreshed, esp if it wasn't a natural thing for you... How? Even if I went to bed at like 7pm and slept I could still easily sleep until like midday the next day. I've always been an insanely tired person and could sleep all day but i feel like I'm wasting my days. I also become irrationally angry when i don't get what i deem to be enough sleep (which is ridiculous seeing as I'd willingly sleep all day) I want to be one of those people who can get up early get ready, instead I struggle getting up when my alarm goes off or I'll sleep until late afternoon if I can then get up feeling groggy and unmotivated to do anything the entire day.

Bleeding

I'm curious to know if anyone else is experiencing changes in their postpartum bleeding? I bled normally for the first 18 days, and then it dwindled down to almost nothing for the past 2 weeks. Well, I just now used the bathroom and noticed I'm back to spotting a lil bit more. Is this normal? I'm currently a month and 5 days postpartum.

Powder for C section incision

Hi!
I’m 3 weeks pp tomorrow and was prescribed this powder to help keep my incision dry. I’m not able to see my incision because of my belly, how can I apply this powder without hurting myself or making a mess?
