My waters broke yesterday morning and I am still not in active labour. I have been having bursts of regular contractions (2 hours of them being 7 minutes apart and lasting 1 minute each) but then they slow down and eventually just stop. This has been going on since yesterday morning and the hospital are now pushing for an induction as I’m still not in active labour which I really don’t want to have. Has anyone had a similar experience? Or a positive induction?

This happened to me with my first baby. I went into triage after 24 hours on their advice and didn’t realise that was so they could begin induction. I was told I couldn’t have a water birth (not true) and that I would need to discuss induction options. They will tell you the risk of infection doubles but I’ve since learned that’s from 0.5% to 1% over 24 hours and increases the longer it goes. For me personally; the risk is still so small if it happens to me again I will wait at least 48 hours before discussing induction. Worth doing your research and thinking about what you feel comfortable with - but be aware it’s always your choice - they can’t make you have an induction if it’s not something you want!

This happened with me with my last baby around tea time, I was admitted at 6am the next morning as I physically couldn’t wee and stayed in and was induced but I’d been having on and off contractions and was 4cm so was just the hormone drip so it all happened quite fast x
