How to tell my 8 year old

I have just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant (early so I have a while). I am wanting ideas on how to tell my 8 year old son. I want to pay privately for a scan around 10 weeks (not sure if to take him to this, then he can physically see). I am worried that I am going to slip up, I really just want to tell him, but I know I need to wait a bit longer or at least until I know all is ok. PLEASE can I have your ideas and timing of when to tell him? Thank you 🫠✨️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

I waited until after the 20w scan and told him the same evening.
I just asked for one of our chats and I couldn't get it out and he said "I'm having a sister" so went with it and it made me cry later as he was so loving and excited. He then was like "wow mum, your belly is big! How did I not notice before." 😂

For context his dad has had 2 and he has lots of stress and anxiety about them both so wanting to keep him from worrying as long as possible!

My son was 7 and we told him on holiday. We went to the Isle of Wight. It was before 20 weeks as didn’t know the gender yet. My son has autism and very challenging behaviour so that was one of the reasons we waited until the school holidays. He was a bit worried but I think he was excited as well.

How many kids do you plan to have maximum?

I’m only asking this as several years ago, back in the 1970s - 1990s, people would have several kids compared to now
I’m born in 1994 and I remember lots of people I grew up with had loads of siblings and my cousins from both my parents sides would have eight kids in them

I don’t want to go in the process of having another baby and restarting everything. The sleepless nights, screaming, baby falling ill and everything was too much for me.

In this generation, some people are sticking to one child only or having two or three kids at maximum

Rolling over

Has anyone’s babies started rolling over or showing signs that they are going too? my baby is coming up to 3 months old and isn’t really showing any signs yet except when he’s on his back, he kinda pushing his body up with his legs occasionally but I think that’s just accidental when he’s happy. My friends baby started rolling from front to back before she was 3 months old and I know we shouldn’t compare because all babies are different but it’s so hard not too as a first time mum, I’m worried that I’m doing something wrong.. is it normal not to be there yet or is he abit behind?

1st birthday presents

As much as I am trying to pretend it is not imminent and the thought of it makes me want to cry. What is everyone buying for their babies 1st birthdays? I could do with some ideas! So far my son mostly has books but would like to buy some toys too. Was hoping to get him a Jellycat but they seem to be sold out all the time online☹️

Elective C-section recovery

Hello I’ve requested an elective c-section as my baby is measuring on the larger side, and I’m currently waiting to receive a date from the hospital. In the meantime, I’ve been looking into the recovery process and how it might impact breastfeeding.

For those who’ve had a c-section before, how was your overall experience? How long did it take you to recover, days or weeks?

I’m hoping to exclusively breastfeed, so I do have some concerns about milk supply following a c-section. I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences with this as well. Thank you in advance 🤍
