Hello,
I’ve just had my 12 week scan. When we started baby was doing a head stand, so had to walk around for 30 minutes. When I came back, the baby was still in an unfavourable position, but could just about get measurements after doing an internal scan. I came out feeling a bit disheartened as she didn’t really say much during the scan, or after, to make me feel reassured everything was fine. I had to ask her after if everything was ok and she just said yes all fine. Am I just overthinking things or did anyone else find it just so “clinical” and one in one out kind of thing. It’s a shame because I’ve had some private scans and I was made to feel so comfortable and reassured there, but the NHS scan just made me come out with anxiety even though nothing was said to be wrong.

That’s so bad! I really do think it depends who you get scanning you though. I’ve had scans on the NHS that have been very much like this and I didn’t feel like I even had a minute to look at the baby as it was so rushed and I came out of it feeling really upset even though nothing was wrong. but then I’ve had others where the sonographer has been lovely and taken time to point things out to us etc. Such a shame for you. Maybe look to book in another private at some point before the 20w scan?
Thank you, I have a private at 16 weeks to confirm gender. I guess it just left me worrying and thinking has she seen something she wasn’t sure on? Just all a bit disheartening but trying to remind myself they would let me know if anything was wrong.

I just had mine, and it was the same - doing handstands. I personally felt the appointment was warm and lovely, I felt the sonographer was highly focusing on the task at hand, and I felt if there was something wrong they would have said so, but if there isn't they usually don't say anything perhaps because they would have to be 100% sure, as what a mistake that would be to make. And then after the scan I saw the midwife and the doctor and they didn't bring anything up , so I take it at this stage that is all they can do 🫂i feel they should have made you feel reassured and that is a shame I am sorry about that.

Our scan was very transactional, no info given, we had to ask all the questions ourselves, the guy had quite a strong accent and it took us a couple of times to get the updated date properly. Overall it was very quick and not as magical as anticipated. But at least all is fine with the baby. 😁

They also gave out a print out with the results of the scan, which I interrogated heavily with Gemini 😊🙈 That helped to get some reassurance afterwards
Thanks all, sounds like it’s just luck of the draw with who you get, fingers crossed for a more engaged and warm sonographer for the 20 week scan!

It really depends on the person you get. Some are really friendly and chatty others theyre there to do a job and thats it. Especially if theyre running behind theyre a lot less friendly
Hey!!
I am having an elected C-section for a few reasons but one being my anxiety.
I was initially told I would get a date around 39 weeks but I’ve just been told it could be 41 weeks instead.
It’s really shocked me as I think this runs a risk of her coming naturally as well as now adding 2 weeks to her due date (39 weeks now being 41).
Does anyone have any experience or advice on how to manage this kind of news and how their c-section date booking went?
Please note - I’m aware I could get a date and it be moved due to emergencies but I didn’t expect this huge change.

Im currently 40+3 with no signs of baby. My midwife wants to talk induction, does anyone have any advice on pain levels and effectiveness from the different types? The balloon method sounds very uncomfortable, but seem preferential to the pessary as you can go home after insertion?

Hi everyone, i had my 20 week scan the other day. Everythings looking good but baby is on the smaller side particuarly head and tummy. I have been asked to go back in for a growth scan in 2 weeks time. I have been reassured by other people that some people do juat have smaller babies. My gp also advised i might need extra growth scans as some of my medications can impact growth but shouldnt be a big enough issue to come off the medications as that could have a bigger negative impact. Trying not to feel guilty as some people have smaller babies genetically anyway, i am jusr hoping to see reassuring progress at the next scan. Would appreciate tqlking to people who can relate

Hey everyone!
I’m currently weighing up a scheduled c section verses being induced (first time mum, I have gestational diabetes, baby is measuring big, high blood pressure, high bmi and various other factors for this)
I know there’s no real ‘better choice’ but I’d love to hear your stories to help me decide!
How was your experience, your recovery ect?
Thank you!

I’ve seen a lot of postpartum binders/bands/wraps to help muscle contraction in the stomach. Has anyone used any? Would you recommend it?
