I’m generally not a massive fan of the -son ending boy names, like Hudson, Grayson, Harrison, etc. But for some reason the name Morrison has been on and off my long list for a long time. I stumbled upon it again from one of my old lists. I really prefer Morrison over Morris, but I do love the many potential nicknames that could come with Morrison- Mo, Morrie, Sonny, Moose , Mosey , Mose, Moses , Morse , Morse code lol 🤷♀️, and yes also Morris.
Morrissey was also on my long list next to Morrison, though I’m not sure which feels more practical. I know there’s a musician with the name Morrissey and I honestly don’t know enough about his personal life to know whether or not that association would make it unusable or not. I do know that he was part of the band The Smiths, which would be a super obscure and subtle nod to my mother as her maiden name was Smith. ( I’ve tried convincing my husband to use Smith as a first name, to no avail.)
I’m aware from old forums that Morrisons is a supermarket chain in the UK, but that association wouldn’t be an issue where we live.
Do Morrison and Morrissey look too try hard as first names? Do you remotely like the sound of either? Any middle name suggestions for either?
Am I going way too off the beaten path compared to our other boys? 😂😅

I love the idea of Morrison for a first name! As someone whose birth name could easily be phonetically twisted into something a bit more vulgar its something I always worry about for kids, and its something I would worry about with Morrissey.
Middle names can be hard without knowing the first letter of the lastname, but something ending in -er seems to ring nicely with it (eg: Morrison Parker, Morrison Cooper, Morrison Asher)
