I'm plus sized and was due to have a C-section today as baby was breech, they did a quick scan and baby was head down so they cancelled my section and said it was best as I have an apron belly and it would make an increased risk of infection on the scar.
I asked for possible induction but they again refused to me having a high BMI and an increased risk of bleeding as I'm on blood thinners. Even asked for the balloon but consultant said no to that too :(
I just feel really disheartened about it all, I was so ready to go meet my baby this morning we got up at 5am to be at the hospital for 6.30 but now I'm back to square one.
Midwife gave me a stretch and sweep, said I'm 2cm but it literally just made me bleed a little and have a few little cramps :( but nothing since :(
I just want my baby here 😭

This honestly makes no sense whatsoever. They cannot refuse you a section or an induction. They can advise you against it. But most NHS hospitals end up pushing sections and inductions on everyone who is remotely higher on the BMI scale. I’ve had 2 sections now (one 5 days ago) my BMI at booking was 42.3. I have an apron belly, and had a PICO dressing both times to aid healing and that is the standard for higher BMIs. If you want that section then push for it. But be warned they are a major abdominal operation!
I'd rather not have the section but I asked to be induced and he said no to everything 😞

I am 16 days post birth - I am plus size and have been with all three of my pregnancies and births.
I have had three natural deliveries after induction for all three at 38 weeks (all for different complications) and when discussing a section I was made aware of the significant risk of infection in the wound due to having an apron belly too. I was quite aware of the risks anyway and also wanted to avoid a more difficult recovery.
I’ve had three very positive experiences and successful births following induction but I would absolutely avoid it if you are able to as it is a physically and emotionally draining process that takes time and can also result in a section if the induction doesn’t work.
I do, however, understand just how frustrating it is and how fed up you must be right now.
I’m not sure how helpful this is but hang on in there and you’ll have your beautiful baby in your arms before you know it! 💕

Not plus size but I have been so far out of guidance my entire pregnancy. They cannot tell you yes or no to anything, your baby, your body, your choice.
You can absolutely decide how you want to give birth. They can advise heavily against what you choose but ultimately as long as you understand the risks you can have whichever birth you desire and there’s nothing they can do they need to support your informed choice x
