For those that went through an induction did you have an epidural?
Context
With my first i didnt have an epidural until after his birth as i had a 3rd dagree tear, his birth was completely unmedicated because it was so fast.
Well anyway multiple people tried for 4 hrs to get the epidural in and failed it was so painful and my back was bruised badly for weeks, in the end they gave me a spinal.
I basically want to know if i can get through an induction (that i know tends to be more painful) without an epidural and just with other pain options or if i just opt into a cesarean
I have 12 days to decide and im stressed 😫

I was induced and only had gas & air during contractions. I had nothing when pushing. I wouldn’t even say it was painful just uncomfortable. It was manageable with nothing imo. Worst part was getting stitched up & those injections down there

I had multiple failed epidurals with my first that ended in a spinal for an emergency c section, second birth I declined an induction and had a elective c section instead, still took them 40 minutes poking around to get the spinal right. Apparently some people just have tricky spines, I now have scar tissue in the site so get numbness and tingling in my legs sometimes (I would still choose that over a second induction anyday)

I was induced with my first and only used a tens machine and gas and air

Two inductions and only had gas and air and both were water births

I didn't want one, but they put me on the hormone drip and it was awful and they turned it up so high I needed an epidural 🙈

I had an induction, didnt want an epidural. The birth happened so quickly that I only managed to have a paracetamol to help ease the pain, the gas and air wasnt working. It was intense but for me it was the best feeling in the world. Like obviously it was painful but the rush after giving birth was the best and I dont think I would have e experienced that feeling if I had been given any pain relief. You can do it without an epidural, its do able. Ive not had a cesarian but Ive heard the recovery can be difficult so personally Id never opt for one over an induction.

I guess I’ll be the odd one out, I took the damn epidural with my first failed induction😭😂 Yall are some strong ladies😂 I have a really high pain tolerance but the way my contractions were in the 100s, I couldn’t do it. Literally worse pain I ever felt LOL Im not saying this to scare you..Im saying to let you know, it’s okay to take the epidural if you need it. You aren’t any less of a mother or woman if you do. Laboring/birth is hard..You do it the way you want to and are comfortable doing it! You got this! I will say though, don’t opt for a C-section if they don’t give you a medical reason for it. I have had 3 and do not recommend it unless you absolutely need to.

Was induced. My contractions where fine, ive had worse period cramps. There drip unmedicated was a different matter. Gas and air helped loads. You feel the pain you just dont care about the pain at all.
Opt for induction! My induction failed and recovering from my c section is the single most painful thing I have ever done in my entire life! Ended up with server PPD because yeah the pain was so bad I wanted to kill myself at one point. I was sick of being in so much pain and ove broken my elbow, torn my entire sternum, and my joints pop out. Yeah nah nothing compares to c section pain

It depends on if you are dilating or not in my opinion. I was stuck at 1 cm for almost 24 hrs so I needed an epidural. I think if your body is responding better to the meds then you might not need it. I do think a big thing was that I wasn't resting enough, because after I got it I slept for 3 hrs and dilated 8 cm in that time. My body was just too stressed to do what it needed.
My provider said that about 50% of people get the epidural with induction in her experience.

I had an epidural with my first and wish I didn't really, I nearly had to go for a c section as I felt i couldn't push so was stuck in active labour for 3 hours and they had to use the suction cup in the end (and an episiotomy 🫣) recovery was not great.
Didn't have an epidural with my 2nd, was induced again - I focused on gas and air and moving around a lot, went for walks as much as I could around the hospital! My labour was under 12 hours, 7 minutes of pushing - painful as it was happening so fast but glad I did it in the end and felt fine after a day or 2 :)

I was induced with my fist as my waters broke and I had an epidural with that.
Then I was induced with my 2nd which was a disaster and lasted 5 days. They tried to give me an epidural which went in fine but never worked, it ended up in an emergency CS as baby was stressed and went back to back. So I had to have a spinal in the end for the CS.
Any questions feel free to ask x

I was induced twice and had wonderful experiencs with my epidurals.
First - my water broke at home. Labor was very slowly progressing so I ended up getting pitocin after being in hospital for ~8 hours with little to no progress. When I got to 5/6 cm dilated I got the epidural and it worked great,
Second- induced due to high blood pressure. Again waited until I was pretty uncomfortable and got epidural that worked great.

If my hospital had offered gas and air I would’ve used that but it probably wouldn’t have been enough still only because I was in labor for 24 hours and mostly needed the epidural to sleep, otherwise I don’t know how I would’ve pushed her out lol

I was induced with my first due to pre-eclampsia and the ONLY reason I got the epidural was because I wasn't progressing and needed extra pitocin to move things along to try and avoid a c-section. I do believe if I hadn't gotten stuck, I'd have delivered with no epidural.

Got an epidural.
After birth, while I was in bliss with my son in my arms, the doc informed me that my placenta had not detached and that I was starting to close up.
Long story short, she had to literally go in elbow deep to dig it out. 😬
I am so glad I had opted for the epidural!!!

I was induced and pushed for 4 hours without an epidural, then had an emergency spinal block minutes before giving birth. I have an extremely high pain tolerance (didn’t know I was in labour until I started pushing🤣) and if I was to do it again I’d get an epidural the earliest time possible

5 hours active labour and 11 mins pushing. From the start of the drip to active labour was about 2 hours.
It was the most beautiful and perfect birth I could have ever wished for for my first x

I was induced with the Peary with my first started working within 4 hours I had gas and air, I was not looking at the time and was mainly overthinking and not sleeping/drinking enough due to anxiety. I got to 8cm was so worn out as it had been 26 hours of labour got an epidural managed to sleep then had to get a csection due to low heart rate but was probably because I was so tense and stressed out cause I wanted to go home

I was induced. Went straight to waters breaking around 2am baby was born 1:27 the next day! I had an epidural before the drip and had a really easy labour tbh!

Just had gas and air with my first spontaneous labour and my second induced labour 😊

I was on the pitocin drip and used gas and air only! Ended up having manual removal of my placenta and blood clots and still only use gas and air, it’s 100% doable 🥰

My epidural worked only on one side and when I mean I was pissedddddd they had to put my ass to sleep since my contractions where right on top of each other I couldn’t even catch my breath

I did it and it wasn’t terrible. It was pretty intense but bearable

I was induced with my 1st due to not going into labour after waters breaking spontaneously.
Same as you they couldn’t get epidural in n was agony for me, nothing progressed for me so I had to be put to sleep and have an emergency, then developed an infection.
I’m now due my 2nd in Aug, I’ve requested not to be induced etc due to everything that happened last time.
So hopefully a V BAC if not will have a planned section.
X

I never had an epidural. My labour was very fast,I went from nothing to 10cm VERY quickly…can’t tell you how quickly because I gave birth 2.5 hours after the hormone drip went in my arm to start things so she never even got chance to check progress of when ‘active labour’ started 🤣 contractions were like 10 seconds apart from the get go, and I’m not gonna lie it was horrendous! But I still managed it without an epidural (I had paracetamol and codeine - she did give me pethidine but it dint kick in til after I’d already given birth…no gas & air as I ‘wasn’t in active labour yet’ 🙄🙄🙄🤡
