Has anyone experienced having an abnormal smear test result? I’ve been booked in for a colcoscopy and slightly freaking out….

Yes! My very first smear came back with this. The colposcopy is just like the smear but they look a lot more in depth. They will probably put a dye up there to check but more often than not it is all fine and they just monitor you a bit closer x

I had this like 6 years ago and had them removed by burning them away. After that I've been fine and my last smear test (this year) was clear
Ahh I’ve been feeling so anxious since I found out, just automatically thinking the worse😢

Yes, it’s very common. I had high grade abnormal cells (CIN 3) back in 2021 and had to have LLETZ where they basically use a heated thin wire loop to burn the abnormal cells. It was uncomfortable but not painful for me. I had a follow up 6 month later, a smear 6 months after that and now back to screening every 5 years, no issues. I’m now pregnant with no problems.

I’ve just had this. Been booked for a colcoscopy aswell! X

Yes, my first one was, I had a colposcopy and he could see the damaged cells and so cut them all away for a biopsy (didn't hurt), they came back negative and so I had another check a year later with was all good, had X2 back to back pregnancies and a check as soon as I was 12 weeks post with my second, which was negative again so 5 year checks now!
