Today I found out from my GP that feed on demand relates to breastfeeding. I’ve in fact been overfeeding my precious newborn and I feel both embarrassed and guilty.
I’m neurodiverse so I took that phrase literally and although I shouldn’t I feel so bad. She’s been in pain and her stomach was large!! My husband was like that’s normal and I’m so happy I finally listened to myself to get it checked after being gaslit so many times.
Anyway, this is to say follow your instincts and ignore formula pack feeding guidance 😅

But NHS website talks about formula and feeding on demand too…? I breastfeed but like you, I would have also assumed it meant the same for formula fed too.

The NHS guidance can be so confusing. We were told by the midwives feed the baby 38mls every 2 hrs, and our baby was screaming constantly. Turned out she was hungry and we'd be underfeeding her. Your 100% right, trust your instincts, each baby is so different!
