I’ve recently gone on the mini pill and ever since I’ve had a non stop period (currently on day 53)
I spoke to my doctor today who recommended to coil instead of the other pill due to my migraines.
I’ve never spoke to someone about the coil and don’t know a lot about and google is giving very mixed reviews.
I have two children and am not planning to have any in the future but don’t want to eliminate it altogether as me and my partner are still young and our minds could change.
Anything would be helpful
Thank you x

I'm thinking of the non hormonal coil but I keep putting it off because I want to hear opinions xx

I had the coil since I was 19 until I got pregnant last year at age 35. I had the IUD (non hormonal one) but that didn't work for me because I had heavy periods so then I had the IUS (hormonal one) and it was fine. The only thing I wasn't sure about is I put on weight(I went from between an 8-10 to a size 12 what I am currently) but that could just be as I got older weight gets harder to shift. My only reservation was I wonder if it slowed us down getting pregnant so I won't go back on it yet as I want more but obviously if you don't want more kids that's not an issue. That's all I've ever known aside from using condoms. People react differently to different forms of contraceptions and how it responds to their body. I feel you just need to trial and error and see what suits you.

None hormonal coil can increase period pain and bleeding
Hormonal coil was a life changer for me!
I came off it and was pregnant within 19 days

I have a copper coil and it was HELL the first few days and I was having actual contraction pain the next day however I’m now 4 months in and absolutely fine I get spotting here and there but not so often that it’s a hindrance, my periods were heavy before pregnancy and they seem to just be the same as before also the cramps are sometimes a bit harsh but again I had bad cramps before pregnancy too so id say I’ve pretty much went back to normal but not everyone gets that and they told me if I had heavy periods to probably not get that one and get the hormonal one but I didn’t want anything hormonal so I just took the chance and it worked! If it doesn’t work for you they will absolutely take it back out for you and try something else but I will say take one or two 15mg codeine an hour before you go because it is a bit painful even with the codeine x
