Hi everyone,
I’m currently 38+6 (first pregnancy, low risk, baby measures at 70th percentile.
Over the last few days I’ve noticed my baby’s movements feel weaker and less frequent than usual (still there, just different). I’ve also been having period-like cramps, mostly at night or early morning, but otherwise I feel fine.
I went to triage and had a CTG – everything looked reassuring and I felt around 4–5 movements in 25 minutes (however they still felt weaker).
The doctor said it could be because baby is now very low, so movements feel different, but also mentioned a small risk that baby might not be 100% well. Because of that, I’ve been offered an induction.
I initially declined as I was a bit overwhelmed, but now I’m unsure what to do.
Has anyone experienced reduced/weaker movements at this stage with a normal CTG? Did you go ahead with induction or wait? Would really appreciate hearing your experiences

My movements are “weaker” but I’ve seen a lot of people saying the same thing so I’ve tried not to worry as the pattern is still the same, I get a lot of pushing out, small rolls and sometimes if Im not feeling my belly I wouldn’t feel it. But I had a growth scan yesterday as she is measuring just under the 50 percentile and everything seemed okay. Your baby may also have changed position/limbs facing a different way resulting in your movements being weaker. I also always have normal CTGs. If they are worried that baby might be poorly just be careful of induction incase it distresses them and if you don’t feel comfortable having one wait it out. But do what you feel is best and if you aren’t happy with something advocate for yourself to get the best possible birth xxx

I am second pregnancy and went in this weekend for the first time this pregnancy due to anxiety over baby’s movements. I would say since about 36 weeks they are a lot less noticeable and don’t last as long, definitely more nudges and random kicks then more continuous movements. I just wanted reassurance to hear their heart beat and make sure everything was okay but I was pretty confident it was because baby has dropped and they are so squished in there and haven’t got much space to move. You know deep down what the best thing to do is. I also turned down an induction during my first pregnancy for reduced movements because in the end I was confident it was just her pattern of normal. You know best do what you feel is right! But you can go to the hospital as many times as you need to get hooked up to the CTG to check baby so don’t feel pressured xx

Yeah mine are also smaller on the whole and get an odd day they feel bigger movements, such a tricky horrid area, I tend to go off has something happened at typical periods n gut sense. No set answer or guarantees, I had this with my first the horrid unknown and guilt she was fine. U do what's right for you x

Hey
I’m also 38 +6. But this is my second child
My movements have changed slightly feeling weaker but midwife isn’t worried said it’s down to how low baby is and running out of space they will feel different
Baby is just under 50th percentile
My first baby was 97th percentile and they offered induction with him at 38 weeks but I declined and waited until 41 weeks before I got induced, he was absolutely fine
Go with what ever u feel is best u could always ask if u could go ok the monitor every day for a week to track movements as I also did this with my first

I'm 35 weeks and also feels like movements haven't felt as strong. Still lots of them just different too! I was in triage at the weekend for this and was reassured that everything was fine. She also said that baby's head was really low and this may be why the movements feel different! X
