Hiii everyone! I’m a soon to be mum and also have type 1 diabetes. I’ve always been told I’d need a c section if I was to get pregnant but now I’m being told I have the option of how I want to give birth.. I had my mind prepared for a c section but then my midwife terrifieddddd me about it. Just hoping those who have had one could please share their stories and give me some reassurance 💛✨

I’ve had 4 c sections, feel free to message me anytime!

I’ve had both a emergency c-section and a scheduled c-section. The schedule was so much easier I was up walking around 3 hours later and went home the next day. The recovery is hard and you will be in pain for a few days to a week or two but everyone is different when I had my first I was hurting for 3 weeks with my second I was fine a week later. I wanted a vbac with my second but couldn’t go past 39 week so we had to do the scheduled c-section. I used a belly band and put knots in a flat sheet and connected it to my bed to help me get up which helped. A c-section is hard and even now 8 months later after my second and it still hurts sometimes, and it gets very itchy a lot. Honestly the itching I’ve dealt with since my first c-section.

I had a c section & its really not as bad as ppl say, I did a lot of research and I’m 4 weeks post op and I feel perfectly fine just make sure you walk as much as you can

Why did they tell you you needed one at first?

I’ve had a c section and a vbac. You can do either. But I think it depends why people told you you had to have a c section. If it was just because of diabetes then do what you want. I personally would go with a vaginal birth just because you wouldn’t have to deal with the surgery. But again I think it depends.

I had a c section booked the night before I had it due to an unsuccessful induction so it wasnt an 'emergency' one but I didnt have much time to get my head around it. The actual procedure itself was absolutely fine, I'd even say I enjoyed it! We had music on, the staff were all in good spirits - the baby reveal was great.
For afterwards you have to make sure you have the support you need so you can just recover, my husband had 6 weeks off work which was a god send. Then you can just concentrate on resting and feeding and they can do pretty much everything else for the first few weeks. I'm nearly 12 weeks pp now and ive have another one in a heartbeat

I had 2 c sections it is rough, i can't even lie. The emotions you're feeling after having a baby, then the pain of your abdomen killing you plus a cut. Everything is so sensitive. I didn't have an option with either of my boys but with my first one I didn't know what to expect so it was very hard for me. My main issue was the sitting yourself up from the bed. It was extremely hard, my hubby had to help me lift myself. You have to be so careful with the fresh cut and think about your movements. That means it's harder to dress yourself, bend over, put undies on. Just simple things seemed hard. With my 2nd one i was more prepared but it didn't hurt any less! I do feel like I recovered faster the second time around! I was up and walking to the NICU by myself after 3 days. Honestly it's about your pain tolerance, both aren't going to be fun. I will tell you this, i had my first one in 2006 and my csection scar gave me pain for years after.

I had my little guy in 2024 and though the pain wasn't as bad I had other issues. I'm not tiny, I have a little apron belly 😁 i have to make sure it's completely dry after every shower. It just doesn't do well when i get hot and move a lot. I actually went to the hospital 2 weeks after having my baby bc my csection scar was red and irritated. As we all know everyone has their own experiences when giving birth. Just bc it was hard for some it may be a breeze for you. It's all about your comfort when bringing your little baby into this world! ♥️ hope that helps! Sorry for the TMI
